Business Continuity Planning-People Portfolio

Over the past five years, the People portfolio at Island Health has faced significant challenges due to unplanned technology events and crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and recent CrowdStrike outage, which have severely disrupted its ability to provide essential support to the organization (e.g. - Staffing.

The Corporate Business Solutions (CBS) department within the People portfolio plays a critical role in planning, executing, and sustaining technology initiatives to the portfolio, along with the Support Services/CFO, and Medical & Academic Affairs portfolios within the organization.

Currently, no Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is in place specifically for the People portfolio. This lack of a formal BCP leaves the department vulnerable to future disruptions, with no clear strategy for maintaining operations in the event of an unforeseen incident. To address this gap, CBS is looking to engage with a third-party firm to develop a comprehensive BCP that will ensure the People portfolio can continue to support Island Health effectively in the face of unplanned events.

This initiative will provide the necessary framework to safeguard the portfolio’s operations and enhance its resilience against future challenges.
 
​​​​​​​Specific Qualifications or Experience Required: 

Mandatory
  1. Resources must have documented/previous expertise in Business Continuity/Disaster Planning
Nice-to-have
  1. Firms having previous BCP experience within Canada/healthcare environments, and/or within People/HR portfolios at large organizations
  2. Resources having certification related to BCP – such as:
    1. Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
    2. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    3. ISO 22301
A resource that has Project Management experience, such as a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate
