Postgress DBA - TIC1909

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) skills to join our DevOps team. 
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring the reliability of our Google Cloud-based Postgres databases. 
You will work closely with our development and operations teams to ensure seamless database performance, scalability, and availability.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain Google Cloud-based Postgres databases.
  • Implement and maintain database backup, recovery, and security strategies.
  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries for efficiency.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database schemas
  • Automate routine database tasks using scripting and configuration management tools.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery of database systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
  • Implement and maintain database monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Provide DBA support in PostgreSQL for public Cloud, preferably Google CloudSQL, and on-premises.
  • Work closely with application teams on database design and DDL deployments to non-prod and production environments using CI/CD pipelines.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in PostgreSQL Cloud database development and support.
  • Proven experience as a DBA with a focus on Postgres databases.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its database services.
  • PostgreSQL SME on user access control, backup/recovery, database deployment, database maintenance, database monitoring/alerting, job scheduling/automation, and database performance tuning.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Understanding of SRE principles and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong Ownership, communication and collaboration skills
