Field Operations - GIS Analyst I - 2575

 Job Description: Summary
The GIS Analyst performs a variety of routine technical duties in maintaining and supporting Shaw’s geographic information systems (GIS) and GIS databases; use standard GIS tools and generates standard GIS products. Perform duties primarily focused on GIS data creation and maintenance to support departmental and County-wide geographic information systems capabilities and Plant design.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
•       Interact with the regional planning team’s planners, project coordinators and project managers
•       Draft Asbuilt received from the regional planning team according to Shaw standards and specifications
•       Perform quality control and correction of existing plant data in the GIS Systems
•       Update spatial boundaries to reflect changes made by the planning teams
•       Update Equipment Database (EFM) as needed
•       Make changes in EFM and GIS System based on print corrections from field maintenance
Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
•       Degree/diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Geomatics or a closely related field, 1-3 years of professional experience in GIS
•       Basic knowledge of Database SQL queries
•       Work experience in coaxial and fiber optic plant design is considered an asset
•       Understanding of civil construction would be considered an asset
•       Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimum supervision
•       Team player with excellent communication skills both written and verbal
•       Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task with attention to detail
•       A positive “can do” attitude and customer focused approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity
