As a Tax Manager, you will lead large client engagements, provide strategic guidance to junior staff, and work closely with clients on regulatory and operational tax reporting related to investment funds. This position offers a chance to directly interact with clients, guiding them through the investment fund’s tax lifecycle while ensuring compliance and efficiency.
Lead large client engagements, managing the full tax lifecycle of investment funds and overseeing team operations.
Review junior staff work to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Provide ongoing technical support, coaching, and mentoring to junior team members for their professional development.
Leverage technology-enabled proprietary platforms to handle tax reporting, including Canadian investment funds distributions, annual Canadian tax compliance, and US reporting (PFIC reporting).
Play a key role in engagement planning, organizing teams, and ensuring the delivery of tax solutions for investment funds.
Form an integral part of the client team, working directly with clients and helping to form their extended team for tax engagement mandates.
Minimum of four years of experience in public accounting, the fund industry, or a related tax role.
Strong interest or experience in tax within the asset management industry.
Knowledgeable in implementing processes and procedures to create operational efficiencies.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide teams and manage engagements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with clients and teams.
Capable of managing conflicting demands and priorities while anticipating potential challenges.
Strong negotiation skills, identifying mutually beneficial solutions for all parties involved.
A strong commitment to client service, with a deep understanding of the clients' businesses.
High motivation and dedication to professionalism and maintaining the highest standards in client service.
Completion or interest in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program.
CPA/CA designation is an asset.
