Through the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) funding, the Local Content team provides production grants, training, live streaming and distribution opportunities to diverse filmmakers and content creators in BC and Alberta. We distribute these stories to over one million Optik TV customers as well as to audiences online. We are focused on empowering underrepresented organizations, communities and individuals, empowering them to tell their stories through our STORYHIVE and Community Content programs.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

The Senior Product Manager will focus on the strategic direction and operations of our Content Deliveries and Merchandising strategies for our Local Content portfolio. Working closely with the Manager of Local Content Program Office, STORYHIVE Website Product Manager, Content Deliveries Project Coordinator as well as internal and external stakeholders, you will design, evolve, facilitate and launch new digital processes to support the delivery of all Local Content funded productions annually for originals, STORYHIVE and Community Content creators.

You’ll also lead and establish the Local Content merchandising strategy for 19 Optik TV Community Showcase channels and our STORYHIVE and originals YouTube channels. By analyzing viewership data and working closely with internal team members you will bring merchandising and content calendar strategies to life. You will use viewership data, industry trends and community research to identify opportunities to deliver differentiated merchandising strategy in alignment with the CRTC and Local Content priorities.

Here’s how
  • Develop, secure support, implement and articulate a differentiated effective strategy and tactics related to merchandising of 19 Local Content Community Showcase Channels and the Local Content Storefront, which feature STORYHIVE and original content. Merchandising tactics include content planning, packaging, positioning, content lifecycle management, content placement, promotional stunts and themes
  • Develop the partnerships, community showcase channel recommendations and standardized guidelines.
  • Lead and collaborate on cross-functional teams across all business units, specifically Content team (merchandising and provisioning) to ensure successful deliveries of all Local Content assets for provisioning and merchandising, enable content deliveries, improve methods to better support content delivery and merchandising, and support the evolution of the Local Content team’s deliveries processes
  • Collaborate with the Content Management Operations and Merchandising teams who collectively lead the hands-on implementation of the day-to-day content management requirements, such as recategorizing, reprovisioning and sorting content.
  • Analyze viewership results (of Showcase Channels, content streams and titles), identify trends, design stunts and themes to increase customer engagement with local content; create merchandising and channel refresh plans and present recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Manage the creation of Ad Avails and Trailers for STORYHIVE and original titles, including creative input, vendor management, as well as scheduling and logistics coordination.
  • Develop, own and maintain merchandising and deliveries roadmaps and support team requirements through the intimate understanding of our STORYHIVE and originals content, timelines, customer engagement, regulatory guidelines, livestreaming and technology requirements.
  • Develop, manage and optimize deliveries end to end process with accountable sub-process owners: Lead timely resolution of content intake and delivery issues; escalation of systemic customer issues; and major process changes with accountable sub-process owners.
  • Develop and maintain moderation process including management of outside vendors, moderator training tools and materials and annual review to identify areas of improvement.
  • Lead the Local Content team archival strategy while collaborating with Studios team to consolidate and archive all assets for reporting, re-provisioning and tracking.

Must to have skills: 
1. Experienced in developing executing content marketing strategies to drive audience engagement by increasing viewership
2. Demonstrated track record of designing new processes to support the increased demands or introductions of new programs.
3. Known for building effective working relationships with external vendors to execute critical internal strategies while meeting and exceeding timelines.
4. Known for your ability to project manage and work in a highly-collaborative and cross-functional setting
5. Recognized for your strong all-round communication expertise (including experience communicating directly with senior leadership), with a keen ability to form and sell ideas and influence outcome
