At Public Mobile, we’re on a mission to give Canadians a new kind of no-frills, transparent, affordable wireless service. In this exciting role, the SEO Strategist will be responsible for developing, maintaining and evolving Public Digital’s SEO standards as well as providing strategy for our teams. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of programs and products within Public and provide guidance to practitioners to support their day-to-day work.

- Be the champion of SEO for Public Mobile. Help us develop a world-class SEO culture through enablement, knowledge sharing and providing leadership and strategic direction to our teams.
- Define standards and best practices to help drive adoption, by developing and implementing guidelines to help shape the way we deliver Content and SEO work across different teams
- Deliver on SEO priorities and commitments in the team’s prioritized backlog
- Identify keyword strategy and KPIs and work with teams to ensure that everyone is on the same page about how to measure SEO performance
- Develop documentation and facilitate cross-team communication & collaboration
- Communicate opportunities, wins and strategies to stakeholders and our internal teams in a way that everyone can understand
- Consult on day-to-day delivery for a specific product/program or special projects, ensuring standards are being met and provide escalated SEO subject matter expertise
- Perform page-level audits and provide recommendations for improvement by performing keyword research to identify opportunities for SEO success and enable stakeholders to use when creative content
- Edit and optimize existing content for Public Mobile to reflect current SEO best practices
- Determine and measure value of SEO success criteria and metrics that ladder up to overarching team outcomes
- Monitor and report on SEO KPIs, including keyword research and competitive audits using our paid tools and Google Search Console
- Assist our Analysts with SEO data visualization with the end goal of automating SEO reporting as much as possible

Must have skills: 
1. 3-5 years of experience developing and executing SEO strategies for enterprise sized companies, with the ability to provide knowledge, expertise and guidance on a particular domain
2. Monitor and report on SEO KPIs, including keyword research and competitive audits using our paid tools and Google Search Console
3. Analytical & Problem Solving Skills: The ability to assess and analyze opportunities within the discipline and identify solutions and data-driven recommendations based on metrics and benchmarks

Nice to have skills:
1. Experience using tools like JIRA & Confluence
2. Assist our Analysts with SEO data visualization with the end goal of automating SEO reporting as much as possible
3. Edit and optimize existing content for Public Mobile to reflect current SEO best practices

- SEO Subject Matter Expertise: The ability to provide knowledge, expertise, and guidance on a particular domain, providing coaching and advice to diverse stakeholder groups
- Strategic Thinking: The ability to provide strategic guidance on how the discipline can drive accountability and adoption of standards and guidelines
- Data & Visualization: The ability to organize, interpret and visualize SEO and web analytics data using both native and in-house proprietary datasets
- Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: The ability to lead, coach, motivate, empathize and collaborate with other SMEs and practitioners
- Analytical & Problem Solving Skills: The ability to assess and analyze opportunities within the discipline and identify solutions and data-driven recommendations based on metrics and benchmarks
- Change Management & Communication: The ability to drive change and adoption by communicating discipline-specific concepts and engaging with diverse stakeholder groups across disciplines

Great-to-haves
- 3-5 years of experience developing and executing SEO strategies for enterprise sized companies, preferably as an in-house SEO
- Intermediate level proficiency using SEO tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush, STAT and Google Search Console
- Experience using Agile methodologies to deliver on outcomes related to an organization’s strategic objectives
- Experience using a range of Agile project/task management software and tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence) and experience leveraging them to support digital acceleration and change initiatives within a business
