Team Lead, Data Engineering Insights (Remote)

What’s the Day to Day Look Like:

  • Lead the team that utilizes data processing pipelines to mine location-based insights, create audience segments and integrate them with a myriad of DMP and DSP systems.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional matrix team members in product, infrastructure, visualization, data science and engineering to identify creative solutions for data targeting, and plan and execute key products from concept to production
  • Live and breathe Big Data and analytics systems such as Big Query, Google Cloud Dataflow and Apache Spark; Knowledge of on-premise big data systems such as HDFS/Spark/Kafka is also an asset
  • Lead best practices in the team in hybrid cloud-based infrastructure (Google and AWS and on-premise) to collect and process massive volumes of data;
  • Assist the team with data pipelines that process over 3 billion rows per day;
  • Brainstorm and guide the team to create powerful visualizations that makes data accessible and understandable.
  • Lead the team to evaluate new technology and help to define the architecture and design of data delivery systems.
  • Contribute with development best practices and experiment with new ideas and always stay on the forefront of advertising industry challenges;

Qualifications (Must Haves):

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in computer science / software engineering, preferably focused on data mining, machine learning, or related quantitative fields.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL, Map Reduce and other Big Data languages and processing frameworks.
  • Experience designing and coding data pipelines in Java and/or Python;
  • Understanding of statistical and predictive modelling, machine learning approaches, geo-spatial analysis and identification of patterns from location/ behavioral data
  • Comfortable designing and coding APIs using Flask or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of machine learning is an asset. Ability to drive machine learning into actionable results and insights.
  • Big plus if you have knowledge of the advertising domain and its technology stack
