The team has recently deployed an IBM Cloud Pak for Data system. This tool uses Watson ML for AI powered decision making. We’re looking for an individual who has experience as a system administrator to take on T2/T3 operational activities to support our production and non-production environments. The system is deployed on premises and runs on OpenShift.

We’re looking for someone that has:
• Operational experience with OpenShift
• An understanding (or better) of Kubernetes and Docker
• Hands on experience with Linux (Red Hat and Ubuntu)
• Knowledge of IBM Cloud Pak for Data System (3.5.3 or up) is great to have
• Experience with scripting and/or SQL

Although the operational activities of the Cloud Pak for Data system will be the successful candidate’s primary responsibilities, our team has other tools that we work with. As such, experience with 1 or more of the following would be beneficial:
• Use of Terraform to manage cloud infrastructure (GCP is our cloud of choice)
o Bonus points for an understanding of solutions using BigQuery
• Experience on distributed MPP platforms, specific knowledge of IBM IIAS a plus
• Experience writing complicated database SQL queries, specific knowledge of DB2 is a plus
• Experience as a DBA

About You:
• System administrator with 5+ years of working experience
o Bonus if this was in DevOps environments OR
o Provided operational support to high complex AI & Data platforms
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
• You have strong technical and analytical abilities, experience with containerization, programming/scripting and sql
• You are great at solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, and designing & implementing solutions to complex technical issues
• Strong experience managing backups, OS patching and application upgrades using change management methodologies.
• Extensive experience managing support cases using ticketing systems (e.g: Remedy)
• Advanced knowledge dealing with Vendor support channels
• You thrive on teamwork and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong client facing, communications and collaboration skills

• Cloud Pak for Data System (CPDS) issues initial assessment: Check logs, API test, etc
• Start and stop CPDS systems
• Restart processes: e.g: API, node, services, etc
• Support Tickets management (Escalations and closures)
• User management
o Create users
o Permissions
o Password reset
• Patches: OS and Application level
• Escalations to T4 (IBM) or Data Platforms
• Backup/restore management
