DevOps Analyst II

Job Description:
The client, a leading entertainment and communications company, has an exciting opportunity for an Application Specialist in their downtown Toronto office. Application Specialist – is a development/environment support role within the Business Managed Applications (BMA) group of the client that requires highly skilled workers that are familiar with current DevOps pipeline development practices and broad knowledge in application/server support.
Reporting to the Manager, Software Configuration Manager, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of service support application administration and development.

Accountabilities:
• Specify, implement, and administer all aspects of the client's operations service support applications
• Analyze and document business and user requirements to determine scope and possible solutions
• Develop an understanding of current Operations Service Support models
• Perform bug fixes and/or trouble-shoot application problems, as required
• Maintain a high standard of software development practices regarding testing, code reviews, documentation, and maintainability
• Various other related duties as required

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Diploma or university degree or equivalent technical experience and accreditation
• Experience with ticketing and reporting applications
• A willingness to learn and understand new technologies
• Experience with configuration management frameworks (eg: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, SALT, etc.)
• Experience in managing full application stacks, including infrastructure and middleware utilized by an application
• Experience with user-centric infrastructure virtualization practices and IaaS
• Experience with development on both Unix and Windows environments
• Experience with distributed version control (eg: Git, Hg)
• Ability to be self-directed
• Experience with supporting live production systems and minimizing customer-impacting downtime
• Passion for automation
• Familiar with ITIL best practices and standards
• Must be able to work and communicate effectively with different types of teams, groups and individuals
• Ability to function in a rapidly-paced, dynamic environment
• A positive, “can-do” attitude and customer focused approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity
