Wireless Access Planning and Performance

Job Responsibilities/Job Functions:

Develop and analyze alternatives in order to recommend the most economical solution to meet departmental and organizational objectives regarding network expansion, subscriber growth and usage patterns.

Technical review of existing and forecasted network performance which includes gathering input from network statistics, RF Engineering, Worst Offenders, Network Operations as well as Marketing. Work with RF Engineering and the optimization team to apply the appropriate actions to address any network capacity requirement and quality issues in a timely manner.

Develop Three Year Network Capital Plan for Market and present the capital requests to senior leaders in organization for approval.

Recommend course of action to management to resolve capacity and technical issue within the access network. Provide comparison of costs and/or impact of these recommendations versus other options.

Collaborate with Regional Network Implementation and RF team to communicate priorities, support and guidance for site acquisition, lease and design issues and to ensure timely delivery of planned programs.

Responsible for the design and planning of standard and new optical architecture, considering optical link reach, fibre design efficiency, network reliability, redundancy and scalability.

Plan end-to-end fibre solution and/or provide instruction to support staff and engineering contractors for the successful delivery of plan.

Review business requirements and engineering plans engineering and deliver accurate and reliability fibre solution.

Provide fibre network design alternatives in optimizing fibre network capability.

Prepare fibre cost estimates (FERS) and produce CAs, BOM and POs


Experience and Education

Undergraduate degree with 7 years of work experience in a wireless environment

Professional designation
Technical skills

Strong understanding of Wireless Network functionality and Wireline/DOCSIS architecture.

Able to determine best last mile solution from cost/quality standpoint to serve underserved communities.

Solutioning for FWA, Point to multi point, Microwave technologies, and GPON/DOCSIS deployments

Strong understanding of the RAN (Radio Access Network) capacity and optimization process

Strong aptitude for research, data analysis and trend development.

Strong planning and budget skills

Microsoft Office suite

Proven ability to lead and direct within department and provide direction and guidance to internal and external groups.

Specific background in projects involving multiple geographic regions, cross-functional teams

Demonstrated ability to manage and track project (or projects)

Ability to operate autonomously, within general direction guidelines.
