Network Analyst II, Optical Networks

As a Network Analyst II, Optical Networks you will be responsible for the proactive management of Optical network technologies (SONET, DWDM & CWDM), the restoration of services following fault situations, the successful deployment of infrastructure projects and for delivering automation/scripting solutions to increase the efficiency of implementation and maintenance tasks.  Other duties also include the preparation of detailed engineering documentation, implementation plans and managing multiple concurrent projects.  This position reports to the Manager, Optical Networks. 
Accountabilities:
  • Perform all technical and administrative tasks to ensure network availability is successfully maintained at its highest levels, including incident/problem resolution, supporting moves/adds/changes, and maintaining overall network health for Client’s Optical infrastructure
  • Develop and deliver creative solutions that automate or optimize equipment turn-up, software upgrades, provisioning and troubleshooting
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, prioritize, deploy and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Develop, document and communicate implementation best practices & standards
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) for Optical Transport technologies: SONET, DWDM & CWDM
  • Receive technical escalations from the Network Operations Center (NOC) and perform advanced troubleshooting on network incidents
  • Assist with the evaluation of new products and technologies; coordinate the integration of new products and software updates into the existing network
  • This position requires flexible hours based on operational requirements, including nighttime maintenance windows
  • Promote and represent Client in a positive and professional manner
Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in Optical Transport Network Engineering and/or Operations
  • Expert level knowledge of SONET/SDH, DWDM and CWDM technologies
  • Strong leadership and technical skills required to make decisions that directly impact Client's Customer Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, negotiation, mentoring and project management skills are required for this position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Visio, Microsoft Office, Windows and Linux
  • A positive, friendly and collaborative approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with empathy and sincerity
  • Proven team player able to work in a complex and fast-paced business environment and must be capable of working with little or no direct supervision
  • Experience working with the Agile development framework to develop quality code to solve automation problems in Python
  • Experience with version control systems (i.e. Git), software development lifecycle, Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) is an asset
  • Knowledge of Fujitsu and Nokia SONET/DWDM equipment and network management systems is highly desirable
