The Information Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the 911 road network GIS environment, supporting GIS applications and databases, performing complex spatial data analysis, and leading GIS-related initiatives to support operational performance and NG 911 readiness.
Maintain the 911 road network by collecting, synthesizing, compiling, and distributing GIS data from multiple sources into a centralized standardized repository
Provide application support and troubleshooting for GIS data maintenance, refresh, and transformation
Resolve issues related to GIS applications and databases, including developing and running SQL queries
Develop enhancements to GIS software, databases, tools, and processes, including:
Automation
Data quality assurance
Software and database upgrades
Database performance improvements
Conduct complex analysis of GIS data and create visual representations, reports, and dashboards
Lead and support GIS initiatives such as:
Infrastructure lifecycle management
ArcGIS upgrades
Data standardization
NG 911 readiness
Support testing, integration, and deployment of GIS-related changes
Capture business requirements and update business rules as required
Strong knowledge of GIS principles, practices, spatial standards, and procedures
Extensive hands-on experience with ArcGIS and GIS-related databases and standards
Knowledge of enterprise GIS applications, spatial database software, DBMS, and Microsoft Office
Knowledge of internal and external data sources and data exchange standards
Experience reviewing, understanding, and developing code and database queries (e.g., SQL, Access, Xbase, Dbase)
Experience enhancing existing GIS features and developing new features based on approved requirements
Ability to create custom GIS maps, reports, dashboards, and visualizations
Experience conducting testing, integration, and deployment activities
Ability to provide accurate work estimates to support project planning
Proven planning and organizational skills to lead and manage GIS initiatives
Demonstrated leadership and technical guidance capabilities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues
Experience preparing documentation, reports, training materials, and correspondence
Experience delivering formal and informal training sessions to end users
