IT Controls Testing Analyst (CTU – Technology & Operations)

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Duration: Contract
Pay Rate: $80-85/hr INC or $70-74/hr T4


Overview

The Central Testing Utility (CTU) 1B function conducts testing activities on behalf of Technology & Operations (T&O) within the 1st Line of Defense. This team provides an opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment alongside experts from diverse technical and business backgrounds.

The Technology team is responsible for performing controls testing (Design & Operating Effectiveness) across key IT domains, including Governance, Security, Service Delivery, Service Support, and Application & Infrastructure Development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute IT internal controls testing aligned to the organization’s Technology PRC framework
  • Perform test planning, execution, and documentation across:
    • Project / Program Management
    • SDLC (Agile & Waterfall)
    • Computer Operations
  • Evaluate design and operating effectiveness of IT controls
  • Prepare detailed test documentation and reports for quality assurance review
  • Identify, analyze, and document control gaps, risks, and root causes
  • Support issue analysis and risk assessments, including impact evaluation
  • Monitor and identify emerging risks and trends to support decision-making
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across Technology and the business
  • Promote adherence to internal standards and industry best practices
  • Present findings and insights to senior management and stakeholders

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Controls Testing, specifically in:
    • Project / Program Management
    • SDLC (Agile & Waterfall)
    • IT Operations / Computer Operations
  • Strong understanding of:
    • IT risk and control frameworks
    • Technology environments and processes
  • Experience with test execution, documentation, and reporting
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Proven ability to work independently and in team environments

Nice to Have

  • Relevant certifications such as CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP
  • Experience within large financial institutions or regulated environments

Compensation

  • $80-85/hour (INC) or $70-74/hour (T4)
  • Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit
