Job Description:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This Security Officer position exists to perform security functions in a professional manner as specified in the site Standing Orders, to secure and protect a designated area of responsibility.

REQUIREMENTS:
2.1 BC Secondary School Diploma or equivalent

2.2 Be bondable to the standards of the BC Solicitor General.

2.3 Must successfully complete BST training courses as follows:

2.4 Individual must possess good written, verbal and listening communication
skills, have good public relation skills and be able to work in a "team" environment.

2.5 Be willing to work rotating shifts, physically able to do the job and have
above average deportment and grooming.

2.6 A 90 Day Under Supervision Licence will be considered, it is the responsibility of the incumbent to obtain the full BST Licence thereafter. If the incumbent is unable to obtain the full licence the incumbent contract will be terminated

WORKING CONDITIONS:
3.1 The incumbent will be required to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of
time, working conditions generally entail rotating shift work.

3.2 There may be an occasional exposure to risk of physical injury.

3.3 There is high tenant/employee traffic and public transit access.

3.4 Employee breaks may be interrupted, possible harassment while in uniform
and mental and physical stress may be incurred due to emergency situations and possible spontaneous shift extensions.

STRUCTURE AND RELATIONSHIPS:
4.1 This position reports to Supervisory Staff. I.e. Site Supervisor
Training/briefing provided by the Supervisory Staff.

4.2 Communication with client, employees, the public and occasionally with

FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR DUTIES:
5.1 Complies with site Standing Orders in the following areas:

Emergency procedures
Patrols/lock ups
Access to internal areas
Property removal
Key control
Medical emergencies

5.2 Reporting

Adheres to corporate reporting structure
Generates written reports as required

5.3 Deportment

Adheres to Graydon Security Systems Policy Manual
Briefs relieving Security Officer
Adheres to site schedule
Positively contributes to site morale

CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION:
Daily work with Standing Orders, memo books, security reports, emergency contact lists, client information and strategic site information.


DECISION MAKING AND AUTHORITY:
7.1 Before acting, receives supervision and direction on Standing Orders,
Unusual occurrences or items not covered by Standing Orders.

7.2 Answers questions from the general public, removal of undesirables or as
directed by the Standing Orders.

7.3 Make recommendations to improve security or procedures at the site

7.4 If illegal activity are witnessed 911/ Police are to be dispatched immediately and to the situation is to be observed at a safe distance, there is to be not engagement in a physical altercation with individuals.

Must Give Approval On:
Before Acting, Receives Supervision and Direction from, or Procedures on:
Unusual occurrences or items not covered in Standing Orders.

Makes Recommendations To:
Supervisor, Site Director and Manager

CONSEQUENCES OF ERRORS:
Client dissatisfaction and disservice, breach of security, financial loss, increased vulnerability to threat, litigation, termination or suspension of employment, injury, damage and loss of property.
