Job Title: Systems Testing / QA Specialist

Work Arrangement: Onsite
Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (excluding lunch)


Role Overview

The Systems Testing / QA Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, and managing end-to-end testing activities for enterprise systems across GUI and non-GUI environments.

This role plays a key part in ensuring system quality, reliability, performance, and compliance, working closely with developers, business analysts, and project teams throughout the SDLC.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide input into testing strategies, test plans, tools selection, and resource planning

  • Plan, organize, and execute testing for large systems, including:

    • Functional testing

    • Integration testing

    • System testing

    • Regression testing

    • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data

  • Validate system behavior under different conditions, including stress and load scenarios

  • Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps

  • Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues and verify fixes

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as:

    • Selenium

    • Micro Focus / OpenText UFT

    • TestComplete

    • Postman

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines

  • Perform performance, stress, and load testing to validate scalability

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)

  • Ensure testing aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain detailed documentation for test coverage, results, metrics, and release readiness

  • Support accessibility testing and compliance with AODA / WCAG standards


Required Skills & Experience

Core QA & Testing Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Systems Tester / QA Specialist

  • Strong experience in manual testing

  • Proven experience planning, organizing, and executing testing efforts

  • Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications

  • Solid understanding of:

    • SDLC and STLC

    • Application development methodologies

    • Structured testing methodologies

  • Strong experience in:

    • Business rules analysis

    • Test case design and execution

    • Traceability matrices

    • Entry, exit, and acceptance criteria


Tools & Technical Skills

  • Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as:

    • Micro Focus ALM

    • JIRA

    • Bugzilla

    • TestRail / Zephyr

  • Experience with automated testing tools (Selenium, UFT, TestComplete, Postman)

  • Ability to write SQL queries for backend data validation

  • Experience validating data integrity, accuracy, and consistency

  • Exposure to API testing and basic security testing

  • Experience creating and managing test data strategies


Methodologies & Ways of Working

  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall environments

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Experience supporting UAT activities

  • Strong documentation and reporting skills


Nice to Have

  • Experience testing registry systems (e.g., Catalyst or similar)

  • Experience coding automated test scripts

  • Knowledge of object-oriented testing methods

  • Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner)

  • Knowledge of Information Management principles

  • Strong presentation and knowledge-sharing skills
