Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst with 3–4 years of experience to join our dynamic Data Engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the documentation, mapping, and analysis of data assets, supporting the development and maintenance of high-quality data pipelines and reporting solutions. This role is essential for ensuring data accuracy, usability, and compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Mapping: Analyze and document data flows from source systems (Oracle, SQL MI, MongoDB, file feeds) to reporting environments. Create and maintain comprehensive data mapping documents to support pipeline development and data integration.
- Data Dictionary Development: Develop, update, and maintain data dictionaries for all critical datasets, ensuring clear definitions, descriptions, and business context for data elements.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of data models, business rules, transformation logic, and reporting structures. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible to technical and business stakeholders.
- Data Quality Analysis: Perform data profiling, validation, and quality checks to identify anomalies and inconsistencies. Collaborate with engineers to resolve data issues and improve data reliability.
- Business Requirements Gathering: Work closely with business users and data engineers to understand reporting and analytics requirements. Translate business needs into technical specifications and data requirements.
- Reporting & Insights: Develop and deliver reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Databricks. Provide actionable insights to support business decision-making.
- Collaboration: Act as a bridge between data engineering and business teams, ensuring alignment on data definitions, usage, and reporting standards.
- Data Governance Support: Assist in the implementation of data governance policies and procedures, including metadata management and data lineage documentation.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience:
3–4 years in a data analyst or similar role, with hands-on experience in data mapping, documentation, and reporting.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and querying
- Experience with data visualization/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Databricks)
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts and documentation standards
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (Oracle, SQL MI, MongoDB)
- Strong Excel skills; familiarity with Python or R is a plus
Preferred:
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
- Experience with data governance and metadata management tools
- Understanding of Medallion architecture and data pipeline concepts
