As ATB’s next Senior Business Analyst, you will consult with customers (senior management through to the front line) and internal resources to determine how people, data, processes, communications and information technology can best accomplish improvements for the business. The Senior Business Analyst will act as facilitator and liaison, bridging the gap between business and technical resources. When problem solving, the focus is on the business and non-technical aspects. You bring expertise to your jobs to be done and problems to be solved, ensuring a balance between end users and enterprise objectives. You understand commercial lending, people, process, technology, and innovation as well as the fine thread that binds all these together to drive value for ATB clients. This Business Analyst may be required to coach/mentor other BA's and team members. In addition they will be responsible for developing documentation and providing a quality review of documentation prepared by other team members. The position may also be assigned ad hoc project and/or reporting responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include:
Gather and document business requirements from stakeholders through interviews, workshops, and surveys.
Analyze business requirements to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
Conduct gap analysis to assess the differences between the current state and the desired state of the system, highlighting areas for enhancement.
Develop use cases and user stories to capture the functional requirements of the system, ensuring that all user needs are met.
Create data models and process flows to document business processes, ensuring that the system aligns with existing workflows.
Identify and document non-functional requirements, such as performance, security, scalability, and usability.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive requirements traceability matrix to ensure that all requirements are accounted for and tracked throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with the development team to translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring that the system meets both functional and non-functional requirements.
Actively participate in system testing to validate that the system meets the business requirements and user expectations.
Assist with training end-users on the new system, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to use the system effectively.
Strong understanding of business analysis principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address potential risks and challenges proactively.
Proficiency in using business analysis tools and techniques, such as use case modeling, data modeling, and requirements traceability.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
May engage in support of product launch and transition period after deployment.
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members and with members of functional teams.
Communicates in a timely manner, escalates issues and potential team issues appropriately to Product Manager and/or Project Manager.
Core Accreditation, Technical, Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in business analysis, product management, or change management, data gathering, and insights analysis preferably in the banking industry with a commercial and corporate lending focus.
Experience with SAP, Salesforce and/or nCino.
Proficiency using Google Suite software, particularly G-Mail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
IIBA certification either ECBA, CCBA or CBAP would be an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to navigate challenging personalities and influence stakeholders.
Advanced knowledge of Business Analysis tools and techniques and how they are effectively applied to specific business analysis needs.
Advanced and broad knowledge of business issues, processes, and strategic planning, as well as IT resources and enabling technologies.
Advanced knowledge of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK).
An eagerness to learn and continuously improve our best practices.
Ability to figure out a diverse set of options for a problem or find a way of looking at things differently.
Strong critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, to recognize and resolve complex issues and devise creative solutions.
Considerable customer service and task management experience.
