emergiTEL is hiring a Test Lead for our client in the Payments / Financial Services industry. This is a Contract role.
Compensation: $70 – $75/hour
Location: 100% Remote (Prefer Calgary or Toronto)
Job Description (English)

Role Summary
 

• Lead end-to-end testing activities for payment systems and applications, ensuring high quality and regulatory compliance.
• Define test strategies, oversee SIT and UAT, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
 

• Own end-to-end SIT and UAT coordination, including planning, test data readiness, environment validation, execution scheduling, defect triage, and final sign-off with business stakeholders.
• Design, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases with full traceability to business requirements and comprehensive UAT coverage.
• Serve as the primary QA/UAT point of contact for Credit Union, Business, Product, Project Management, Development, and Operations teams.
• Identify, log, prioritize, and track defects through closure; facilitate defect triage and ensure timely resolution.
• Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures to reduce defect leakage.
• Estimate test effort, define scope, manage dependencies, and provide status, risk, and execution reporting.
• Ensure adherence to QA/UAT standards, governance, entry/exit criteria, defect management, and sign-off processes.
• Perform UAT readiness risk assessments related to data availability, timelines, and cross-team dependencies.
• Coordinate knowledge transfer sessions, walkthroughs, and documentation to support smooth handoffs.
• Support go-live and post-implementation validation, including sanity checks and production verification.
• Stay current with testing methodologies, tools, and industry trends to enhance QA effectiveness.

Experience and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience as a Test Lead or similar role within the Canadian financial or payments industry.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian payment systems (WIRES, Interac, CAFT) and ISO 20022 standards.
• Familiarity with Canadian compliance and risk management frameworks.
• Expertise in software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Python, JavaScript).
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD; performance and load testing is an asset.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
