emergiTEL is hiring a Security Developer for our client in the Financial Services industry. This is a Contract role.
Compensation: $120 – $150/hour
Location: Calgary, AB

Job Description (English)

• Design, develop, and architect scalable security features and identity adapters, ensuring Security-by-Design is embedded throughout the product lifecycle from inception to retirement.
• Engineer and automate application security testing (SAST, DAST, SCA) within CI/CD pipelines to identify vulnerabilities at scale rather than relying on manual scans.
• Lead Security Architecture Reviews for complex client identity flows, providing expert guidance on OIDC, OAuth 2.0, JWT implementation, and vulnerability remediation.
• Define and maintain a standardized security control library and verify control effectiveness through automated validation.
• Review application architectures from a security perspective and provide hands-on technical guidance for vulnerability remediation.
• Support departments in assessing, selecting, implementing, and validating security controls.
• Engineer and deploy Automated Security Validation (ASV) frameworks that programmatically exploit identified vulnerabilities.
• Design scalable Security-as-Code solutions to verify control effectiveness across enterprise CI/CD pipelines, delivering automated, evidence-based risk reporting.
• Operationalize threat modeling across the engineering organization by establishing STRIDE-based standards and mentoring developers to lead their own threat modeling sessions.
• Influence organizational security culture by defining secure coding standards and leading Security Champion programs.
• Design and oversee security telemetry pipelines and executive dashboards that provide real-time, risk-based visibility into application security posture.

Key Skills and Focus Areas

• Custom code gating and automation to block vulnerable code before deployment and provide immediate developer feedback.
• AI-driven vulnerability remediation and security visibility to reduce manual effort across development teams.
• Automated creation and maintenance of complete Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs).
• Secure Development Assurance through AppSec portals, security champion programs, and targeted developer training.
• Measurable security performance through defined metrics and standardized security testing frameworks.
