NATURE AND SCOPE
  • Partnering with hiring managers to clearly define and develop the niche requirements, job-specific technical skills and desired candidate characteristics including must-haves, and nice-to-have attributes.
  • Strategizing on preferred recruitment methods (ie: position and/or association / industry-specific job boards).
  • Managing the recruitment pipeline from screening, interviewing, salary negotiations, reference checks, and preparing appropriate documents to secure candidates.
  • Identifying and providing innovative solutions to challenges encountered throughout the full recruitment life-cycle.
  • Proactively building candidate networks and pipelines to facilitate current and future recruitment needs.
  • Managing assigned portfolio(s) by assessing applicant suitability, referring applicants to hiring managers, coordinating the full recruitment process until the vacancy is successfully filled.
  • Assisting in sourcing candidates through a variety of techniques, including identification of relevant networks, participation at networking events, outreach to industry and academic organizations, and social media.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Minimum Seven (7) years’ experience in recruiting (ideally) technology resources for both private and public sector organizations.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in sourcing across a wide variety of technology disciplines.
  • Extensive knowledge of the technology labour market in British Columbia.
  • Extensive network of contacts across a multitude of industry verticals in British Columbia
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of sourcing, vertting, interviewing, and closing techniques across all levels (entry level through to team lead/supervisor)
  • Exposure to a multitude of applicant tracking systems, and automated workflow solutions supporting Talent Acquisition workflows.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience with building and utilizing a variety of sourcing plans and tools, including significant proactive discovery calls with candidates, referrals, and implementing Internet search and research techniques beyond “post-and-pray” mentality.
  • Established search acumen and creativity with complex Boolean; an individual who can learn quickly and understand how to craft effective search strategies within unique departments and work environments.
  • High-energy, and personal drive - with an inherent ability to easily establish, and quickly build confidence and rapport with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Self-sufficient and able to work with little direct supervision.
  • Familiarity with the current employment legislation.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while handling a fluctuating high pressure / high volume work load .
  • Demonstrated ability to source high quality candidates for hard-to-fill positions.
  • Solid applicant tracking database administration skills combined with an understanding of programming techniques and skills in facilitating automated front-end, and back-end workflow design.
  • Proven creativity and innovation when it comes to hard-to-fill positions.
 
NICE-TO-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous experience in a combined union / non-union work environment.
  • Understanding of collective agreements and their tie-into shaping offer presentations to candidates.
