Network Security Analyst (Advanced)
Position Purpose: An Advanced Network Security Analyst coordinates and implements security measures for information systems to regulate access to computer data files and prevents unauthorized modification,
destruction or disclosure of information. Encrypts data transmissions and erects firewalls to protect system from harmful exposure. Develops plans to safeguard computer files against unauthorized medications, destruction or disclosure.
Significant independent judgment is used with minimal direction provided. May supervise lower level analysts.
Key Accountabilities:
- Implement and maintain operating systems software, system security procedures, systems software access controls, security tracking reporting systems, and disk and tape resource utilization standards
- Maintain configuration documentation for security Infrastructure, Local/Wide Area Network, standard operating procedures and other miscellaneous configuration documentation
- May participate with management in forecasting and operational planning, development of standards and project team coordination
- Evaluate communication and network systems for determining resource requirements and design specifications
- Analyze system usage and data flow; encrypt data transmissions and erect firewalls to conceal confidential information as it is being transmitted and to keep out tainted digital transfers
- Develop plans to safeguard computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs
- Monitor use of data files and regulate access to safeguard information in computer files
- Determine schedule for updates virus protection systems
- Modify computer security files to incorporate new software, correct errors, or change individual access status
- Perform risk assessments and execute tests of data processing system to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures
- Confer with users to discuss issues such as computer data access needs, security violations, and programming changes
- Review violations of computer security procedures and discuss procedures with violators to ensure violations are not repeated
- May train users and promote security awareness to ensure system security and to improve server and network efficiency
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Processing, Mathematics, Business Administration (or related field) or equivalent education/experience
- 3-6 years experience in two (or more) of the following: networking, data communications, computer hardware and operating systems software, computer programming, and systems analysis and design
Skills and Competencies:

- Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interface effectively with a broad range of contacts; from technical staff to management
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and to work successfully under pressure

- May be required to know basic laws and government regulations related to IT security measures
- Financial services experience – would be an asset
