EPC Network Engineer - 2550

The EPC network engineer will be responsible for production of engineering designs to ensure the overall stability, integrity performance and expansion of client’s packet core network. This consists of testing, integration, producing engineering design specifications, lab verification of software features, trouble shooting production issues.

The network engineer will review, analyse, evaluate and maintain Clients' telecommunications system. The network engineer will also design and test telecommunications solutions and provides training of the telecommunications features and functionality to other teams as required.

The network engineer will work on multiple projects simultaneously and co-ordinate with clients’ technology, operations, project management, planning and clients’ vendors to achieve project completion on time.
The network engineer will have the following qualifications:
  • A post-secondary degree in Telecommunications or Engineering is required; candidates with an exceptional track record in large MSO or carrier operational environments will be considered on a case by case basis.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in any functional role that has exposed the
  • individual to successfully leading and completing projects.
  • Demonstrated work experience with the following Ericsson Products: SGSN/MME, GGSN, EPG, WMG, HSS-FE, HLR-FE, LDAP, DNS and CUDB Nodes and associated services.
  • In depth Knowledge of Linux, IP, BGP, GRE, GTP, Diameter, Sip, MySQL, Sigtran and LDAP
  • Broad knowledge of Ericsson Packet Core and User data Management nodes, Linux Servers - Certified in one of the above or comparable qualification is essential
  • Basic Knowledge of IP networks including MPLS is an asset
  • A self-starter attitude is required for this role, must be able to learn from informal as well as formal channels (learning as you go, on the job peer training) as many of the concepts and services are still evolving within the industry
  • Good Analytical and troubleshooting skills are essential
  • Knowledge of ANSI, ETSI, 3GPP, GSM and CCiTT Standards.
  • Team player, along with the ability to work in a standalone capacity
  • Demonstrated cogitation of customer focus approach and professionally driven attitude
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills are required for the Platform Specialist role
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • Flexibility to work on on-call if required. 
  • Candidate must possess the “thirst” to seek out answers on their own to challenges encountered and must be able to work collaboratively to generate tactical solutions to operational support challenges as necessary
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills are mandatory
