Key Responsibilities/Job Functions:
Reporting to the Manager of End to End Services, the Senior End to End IP Services Specialist will be involved with a number of complex engineering projects related to wireless and/or wireline IP networks, services & platforms. The successful candidate will oversee large scale cross platform, product and technology initiatives and act as the end to end service subject matter expert with the goal of minimizing customer and service impact as well as reducing the probability of an unplanned customer impact
 
Responsibilities:
Evaluate End to End designs of complex projects involving client Wireline and Wireless IP networks, platforms and services
  • End to End IP service flow documentation
  • Apply advanced Engineering knowledge in identifying all risks and dependencies associated with project planning and implementation
  • Work with other Engineering groups to ensure all conflicts and dependencies are addressed in Engineering plans
  • Define the most optimized plan for project implementation to ensure minimized service impact while containing the project cost and schedule
  • Be at the forefront and support the project team through the implementation phase by reviewing and resolving conflicting network changes
  • Create Service Impact Risk Assessments and recommendations for special initiatives and complex network changes
  • Highlight risks and recommendations associated with complex network changes and present them to the senior leadership team
  • Make decisions and recommendations on plan of action using established guidelines; propose changes to the established guidelines based upon new priorities
  • Continuously work on improving and/or updating the level of platform documentation and/or service inventory and cross platform/network/service dependencies
  • Assist in developing process and method definitions to support the ongoing operations of the department; suggest process improvement opportunities; document new processes and process changes
  • Be aware and adhere to all applicable Health and Safety regulations, in accordance with legislation and related Company policy
Qualifications
Core Competencies: 
  • Education to include undergraduate university degree in electrical or computer engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 7 years of telecom experience in the field of wireless and wireline data services
  • Ability to solve complex problems, correlate events, develop creative solutions and think outside the box
  • Ability to independently manage large cross functional initiatives, mediate and resolve conflicts, negotiate and act diplomatically, take ownership of deliverables
  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations governed by general policy
  • Ability to modify established guidelines and devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners, and draw conclusions from comparative situations

Experience and qualifications need to be in line with one or a combination of the core technical competencies outlined below:
IP Platforms Specific Competencies
 
  • Advanced understanding of Wireline & Wireless IP network design, implementation & maintenance in a Multiple System Operator environment
  • Routing and Switching protocols BGP, eBGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, IGRP, EIGRP, MPLS, & VPLS
  • Candidate with Cisco/Juniper certifications preferred - CCNP/CCIE JNCIP.
  • Strong working knowledge of Cisco and Juniper network devices
  • Understanding of Cisco Unified Computing System and HP c7000 blade enclosure
  • Solid knowledge of Network Security (User Authentication methods, Firewalls, Load Balancers & Intrusion Detection Systems)
  • Understanding of network & hardware virtualization is an asset
