Network Designer III 


The position will provide post-sales support to implementation teams and pre-sales support to sales & engineering leveraging exceptional technical professionalism to deliver technology and service solutions. Daily activities generally include support for implementation, change, release and configuration management to various converged technologies focusing on data networks, VPN, switches, routers, load balancers and wireless LAN systems. Avaya LAN and Aruba WLAN represent the key skill set of this job opportunity. 

• Accountable for setting direction and leadership on Infrastructure projects by providing technical guidance, design and consulting services to team members on the delivery of IT projects. 
• Responsible for providing and implementing architecture solutions that meet the business requirements of both the department and our customers. 
• Responsible for working with the account teams in developing client solutions in support sales proposals. 
• Delivery of contracted managed services for LAN services to ensure a high level of end-user satisfaction and achieve/exceed SLA commitments 
• Provide configuration management of networked and standalone data related equipment 
• Identify and analyze the root causes of capacity and performance breakdowns and recommend solutions 
• Proactive system performance analysis and repairs required to reduce/eliminate the root causes of system failures 

Required Knowledge: 
Exceptional understanding of the requirements needed to design, manage and maintain complex networked data systems and their peripherals with a senior to expert level of technical skills within many of the core relevant technical proficiencies. 

Required Skills & Abilities:

Must be experienced and proficient in a broad range of networking technologies. 
Exceptional understanding of the requirements needed to design, manage and maintain complex networked data systems and their peripherals with a senior to expert level of technical skills within many of the core relevant technical proficiencies 
Experience in designing, deploying and migrating key systems. 
Experience with Service Management Processes(ITIL V3) such Change Management, Release and Configuration Management. 
• Demonstrate an exceptional understanding of architecture, planning & design, implementation, maintenance, and upgrades to data network equipment and network infrastructures of AVAYA/Nortel technologies and Aruba WLAN including but not limited to: LAN, WAN, security, wireless, load balancing, WAN optimization, data centre technologies, etc.. 
• Business aware and able to drive out Business benefits through the use of technology. Deliver customized system management specific to customer requirements. 
• Proven ability to liaise with customers with the goal of effectively working with systems, building customer knowledge, review (sometimes taking ownership and/or explain) major outages and trends, and assist in the development of action plans to eliminate future risk 
• On occasion they need to be onsite to provide knowledge and professional consultation to the customer and their vendors 
• Regularly required to provide consultation to other projects on his/her area of expertise. Some project management for enhanced system solutions and expansions, from design to implementation, may be required. 
• Self-motivated and accountable for ensuring service levels are achieved / exceeded. 
• Candidates should possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and must operate efficiently and effectively in a very interactive team environment. 
• Recognized within the industry as an expert in his/her field. Works with the management team to formulate strategic plans. 
• Candidates must be able to work independently, extended hours / over time, and after hours. 
• Have a valid BC driver license and a car. 
Required Professional Designation/Certification: 
• AVAYA Networking Solutions. Ethernet Routing Swith and Virtual Service Platform Switch certifications AVAYA (ASPS, ACIS or ACSS) or demonstrated equivalent experience required / mandatory. Also Nortel Baystack experience. 
• Aruba WLAN (Aruba Certified switching associate ACSA) or demonstrated experience. 

Required Experience: 
• Extensive experience (7-10 years) of Data technical support (i.e. hands-on experience in design, configuration, performing installations, moves, adds, and changes) 
• Experiences working in successful client-consultant roles is required 
• In depth knowledge of Data networking products, Complex data solutions, and network design including routing, switching, wireless, and troubleshooting. 
• Knowledge of Converged technologies including, but not limited to VOIP 
• Knowledge of wireless technology including AVAYA Wireless LAN 
• PC skills including Word processing, spreadsheets, Visio, MS Project, databases, internet 
• Ability to translate and communicate business opportunities into technical requirements 
• Superior communications skills both written and verbal. 
• Be able to multi-task

Must to have skills:
1. ACSS - Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch, ACIS - Avaya Fabric Networking Solutions
2. 5+ Years experience and proven track record of troubleshooting complex issues through to resolution
3. 5+ Years experienc and proven track record of executing complex changes to live customer VoiP networks with 100% success
4. Minimum ACIS Networking Certification, ACSS on Networking preferred.
5. Aruba WLAN (Aruba Certified switching associate ACSA) or demonstrated experience
6. Excellent English language and communication skills 7. Cisco Networking skills (CCNA)

Nice to have skills:
1. Expert level knowledge troubleshooting Microsoft Lync (Skype for Business), CUBE, Oracle Session Border Controllers
2. iTIL (v3 or higher) Certification
3. Experience with Change Control policies and methods
4. SBC skills like Oracle
