Position Overview: 
The Vendor Manager (VM) – Fiber to the Home (FFTH) is a critical role within the Procurement team at client. The VM will source external labour services for engineering design, construction, installation, project management, repair and other support services associated for the Broadband Networks business unit 

The VM has accountability for developing, prioritizing and successfully negotiating holistic sourcing strategies and agreements within the FTTH category, resulting in cost optimization and flexibility, improved performance from the supply-base, and overall value for client throughout the category life cycle. 


The VM is accountable for a portfolio of assigned vendors within the FTTH category, and he/she will manage key strategic sourcing events end-to-end, including the following responsibilities: 
• Manage the expectations of VP and Director level stakeholders within client, as well as the external supplier relationships 
• Drive spend category intelligence including identification of suppliers, market research and analytics, and recommendations for solutions 
• Prepare and execute competitive bidding (RFI, RFP, RFQ) events 
• Deliver on vendor negotiations, driving Total Value of Ownership (TVO) and value for money 
• Negotiate, draft, administer and manage commercial contracts 
• Identify and deliver a strategic approach to achieving annual TVO targets, track and manage results, take remedial actions, present updates, analysis and recommendations to senior management 
• Perform ongoing vendor performance monitoring and evaluation and manage the ongoing supplier relationship and governance 

Required Knowledge & Experience: 
• 5+ years of experience in a related role (e.g. vendor manager, vendor relationship manager, strategic sourcing and supply chain professional, supply chain management professional, strategic business relationship management, and/or consulting) 
• Solid understanding of strategic sourcing concepts and best practices 
• Proven experience developing and managing successful relationships with vendors / suppliers, including providing feedback on performance metrics and deliverables 
• Proven experience in competitive bidding processes, including leading RFX processes end to end in highly organized, collaborative and successful fashion. 
• 5+ years proven experience in leading supplier negotiations and structuring deals, including establishing contract terms and conditions (i.e. pricing, performance management and SLA development), drafting legal agreements, and implementing risk mitigation best practices 
• Understanding of contract law including the completion of related courses, and the proven ability to ability to draft, edit and review complex services contracts 
• Experience in telecommunications field services (outside plant engineering and construction services, wireless construction, inside wiring) a definite plus 
• 5+ years managing executive-level business relationships and leading collaborative cross functional teams

• Competency and formal training with Microsoft office suite of tools, e-contract management and competitive bidding tools an asset 
Required Professional Designation/Certification: 
• Bachelor’s degree required and 5+ years of equivalent experience in sourcing/procurement/vendor management 
• Bachelor degree in Business/Commerce, MBA, LLB, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management is an asset (equivalencies in experience considered) 
• Professional designation in Supply Chain Management or equivalent is an asset (SCMP / CPP, ISM) 
• Professional designations in project management (PMI), negotiations, finance, business analytics, consulting, professional negotiations, Paralegal or an LLB is an asset

Must to have skills:
1. Contract drafting and negotiation skills (be able to independently do this without legal support)
2 Strong communication and relationship building skills
3. Sound knowledge of procurement and working in a cross-functional, work styled environment

Nice to have skills:
1. Experience in telecommunication or construction industry
2. Undergraduate degree or law degree
3. Experience in establishing complex outsourcing arrangements including development of SLAs/KPIs, managing vendor performance etc.
