Job Overview:
Our client is looking for an experiences resource who will be Reporting to Vice President IT – Pharmacy & Healthcare, the Health & Wellness Delivery Director and will be responsible for delivering the strategic plan of the Health & Wellness mandate.  The Health & Wellness mandate consists of extending and enhancing the quality of services provided by our pharmacies beyond pharmaceutical dispensing, ultimately with the goal to improve the health of Canadians and help them Live Life Well.
This position is accountable for establishing goals and providing leadership to guide the team to deliver on these goals.  
The Director organizes the mandate into programs, projects and work streams, facilitates the selection of integrators and engages with other internal resources, ensuring the initiatives are delivered within the client standards and policies framework. The Director will liaise with numerous external partners, including in some cases with high profile regulators such as Government Relations teams. Ultimately this individual will maintain overall accountability and oversight to ensure that alignment of stakeholders and objectives is maintained.
Duties include:
  • The Director is accountable for the successful, timely delivery of the Health & Wellness portfolio within the approved budgets and timelines, while ensuring the highest degree of stakeholder engagement and quality of the overall delivery of service and solution to meet the defined business need.
  • Directs a matrix team of Managers, Leads, Analysts and multiple (potentially diverse) resources to ensure the effective delivery of the mandate according to agreed upon scope/budget/schedule while adhering to and utilizing client  working practices, policies and standards framework.
  • Directs outsourced services needed for the delivery of the mandate and liaise proactively with the other teams within the IT and Business organization to ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assesses the portfolio’s key performance metrics and outcomes to ensure delivery success, develops mitigating strategies, provides guidance and facilitates direction to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Monitors and assesses the quality of the delivery of the mandate to support business benefits delivery, maximize resource allocation and ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Monitors and develops mitigating strategies to drive issue and risk management resolution to ensure portfolio components are delivered on scope, time, budget and defect free. Takes decisions to make sure all problems are resolved in a timely and effective manner.
  • Oversees the ongoing development of program budgets and forecasts in support of the fiscal annual budget process to ensure proper program resources allocation is planned and utilized effectively.
  • Oversees workloads and provides staff supervision to ensure that work is done accurately, efficiently and complies with policies, procedures and standards as well as best working practices.  
  • Provides guidance, motivation, and performance review including hiring and terminating employees, to maintain and enhance competency levels, identify future training requirements and achieve goals to increase performance.
  • Establishes and drives the appropriate governance of the Health & Wellness portfolio including working & steering committees.
  • Actively engages in organizational change management leadership in pursuit of successful adoption.
  • Through the delivery of the mandate, builds a strong partnership between all the different business areas (e.g. Store Operations, Finance, Human Resources, IT, etc.)
Skills Required:
  • Advanced knowledge of IT relationship management, IT architecture, project and program management, methodology, technology services delivery, and quality assurance models.
  • Health care experience is an asset.
  • Ability to facilitate the selection of and manage major integrators and software vendors.
  • Requires interpersonal skills to resolve situations with colleagues where there may be some level of conflict, stress or uncertainty.
  • Provides solutions by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required.
  • Provides technical information to fellow colleagues in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Able to make decisions that are broad based in nature involving multiple resources outside the areas of direct authority.
  • Adaptable to set and prioritize work with multiple exceptions.  Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
  • Able to produce effective reports, documents and presentations.
  • Knowledge of IT software development.
  • Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone..
  • Minimum of 10 years Business, IT or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 successful large project or program delivered in complex business environment.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification preferred.
