Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned individual to provide leadership and support for client hardware engineering artifacts. The successful individual will be required to work with a seasoned team of engineering, production, purchasing and inventory managers. Hardware Engineering encompasses Digital, Mechanical and RF disciplines. The successful candidate will define, propose, review and implement a new BOM template, common parts library, release maintenance program and execute the migration activities needed in preparation for a subsequent inventory management system roll out.

  • Work with:
  • Product Architects and Managers to identify pain points and optimize current EPR and ECN process
  • Hardware practitioners to improve current BOM approach, hierarchy, propose improvements and obtain agreement for senior stakeholders
  • production, purchasing and inventory to ensure their requirements are met
  • Implement changes to migrate current BOM suite to agreed template
  • This may include hiring additional short-term contractor
  • Institutionalize with all team members agreed upon changes and practices
  • Project manage the initiative:
  • Provide management and stakeholders project status, highlight risks and identify effective mitigation strategies to ensure program quality and schedule deadlines are met;
  • Appropriate escalation any of the project management triple constants which cannot be met with vetted mitigations the working team supports;
  • Provide instruction/support to other staff in process and artifacts defined
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 10 years’ direct experience in a product engineering environment
  • Preferably muti-discipline experience (SW, Mech, RF, and/or Digital HDWR)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplined team environment and individual assignments of varying degrees of ambiguity;
  • Demonstrated experience developing hardware and PCB layouts
  • Exposure with JIRA, AutoCAD, SOLID WORKS, Bluestar, AX Dynamics or similar toolsets
  • Working knowledge of one or more Materials, Environmental and/or Safety Standards (e.g. MIL 810, CSA, UL, RoHS, WEE, IEC) would be an asset;
  • Excellent English language communication skills (verbal, written and presentation);
  • A graduate of an accredited university degree program in engineering (or equivalent).
  • Complementary studies in another engineering field would be an asset (e.g. Communications, Electrical, Systems, Computer or Software)
  • Eligibility for licensing by PEO is an asset.
