Capital Markets Operations - Associate

Summary


In a dynamic and International environment, you will be part of the control and support functions of the operations initiated by the GMD Front Office in Hong Kong and Asia satellites sites within the back office system.

Your role will be to facilitate and to smooth the processing of the operations in the processing chains by ensuring an effective and relevant control process of operations. (Global Markets Division = GMD Business Lines: Forex, Credit, Treasury and Interest Rates Derivatives).

Operations & Country COOs (OPC) in Hong Kong is made up of four main teams:
  • Financing & Trade Operations (FTO) including Documentary & Guarantee Operations, Credit & Loan Operations
  • Transaction Banking Operations (TBO) covering client account operations
  • Capital Markets Operations (CMO) including Middle Office, Back Office and Transverse Operations functions
  • Asia & Middle-East Operations Projects (AOP) covering CMO, FTO, TBO and Transversal projects
Within Capital Markets Operations (CMO), Middle Office teams (CMM) are in charge of controlling the booking of transactions in CACIB’s Front Office and Back Office tools and managing the life cycle of operations.
MO Post Trade team is in charge of the management of the stock and life cycle of Capital Markets transactions within the Back-Office tools for several CACIB entities (e.g. Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Tokyo).

You will develop various skills: knowledge of financial products and financial market environment, effective communication with different stakeholders and problem solving.

The position is based in Hong-Kong
 

Key Responsibilities

 
  • Ensure the proper integration of transactions initiated by the Front Office into the Back Office systems of the Bank.
  • Deal checking against trade supporting documents and liaise with internal teams for any trade discrepancy.
  • Investigation related to internal queries (deal searching, request for information, FO-BO reconciliation).
  • Conduct controls related to the integration of operations in respect of local regulations and internal policies.
  • Management of requests from Control / Reconciliation / accounting teams.
  • Management of fixing within back office systems.
  • Booking of non STP operations in the Back Office System according to the documentations.
  • Management of transverse tasks: Brokerage value, Structure Id and other tasks.

Transversal responsibilities
 
  • Assist Line manager to carry out common projects / global initiatives
  • Assist in system enhancement and UAT testing
  • Participation in the drafting and/or updating of operational procedures for the sector.
  • Manage operational risk with a duty to alert Management.

  • Foreign Exchange (FX Spot, FX Swap, FX Forward, FX Option, FXNDF etc.) and Treasury (Deposits, Loans).
  • Rates: Swap, Cap, Floor, FRA (Forward Rate Agreement), Swaption, Interest Rate Future (IRF)
  • Structured Products

Legal and Regulatory Responsibilities
  • Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal Compliance requirements, including, but not limited to, the Hong Kong Compliance manual and the Financial Crime Policy. Complete any mandatory training in line with legal, regulatory and internal Compliance requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate knowledge to ensure to be fully qualified to undertake the role. Complete all mandatory training as required to attain and maintain competence.
  • Refrain from taking any steps which could lead to the removal of certification of fitness and properness to perform the role.
  • Undertake all necessary steps to satisfy the annual certification process.
  •    Comply with all applicable conduct rules as prescribed by the relevant regulator
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • University degree with 4-6 years of experience in a Capital Market Operations or Middle Office environments
  • Degree holder from discipline in business administration, banking or finance-related discipline preferred
  • Knowledge of financial products and understanding of operational risks involved in Fixed Income and FX products
  • Good knowledge of China processing framework and regulatory environment will be beneficial
  • Good judgment, alertness and common sense
  • Good analytical, organizational and interpersonal skill
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and able to work under pressure
  • Fluency in English. Proficient in French or other Asian languages is a plus
  • Versatile with PC tools and applications, e.g. MS Office, VBA
  • Perfectly at ease in a multi-cultural environment
