Position Overview
The Government of Alberta is seeking an experienced Test Analyst to support the Consumer Licensing Enquiry Online (CLEO) initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, business readiness, training support, deployment readiness, and post-implementation stabilization.
The Test Analyst will work closely with Product Owners, SMEs, business stakeholders, and project team members to validate the CLEO solution against approved requirements, ServiceNow stories, acceptance criteria, and business processes.
The role also includes identifying opportunities to responsibly leverage approved AI and Generative AI tools to improve test coverage, documentation, training development, knowledge transfer, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and execute test scenarios, test scripts, and test cases aligned with business requirements, ServiceNow stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Perform UAT, functional, regression, enhancement, integration, end-to-end, and retesting activities.
- Identify, document, track, and validate defects, including severity assessment, supporting evidence, and verification of resolutions.
- Support defect triage, root-cause analysis, and defect investigation.
- Maintain test documentation, execution records, traceability, and testing status reports.
- Support integration testing, data migration validation, and business process validation.
- Monitor testing progress and communicate risks, issues, dependencies, blockers, and constraints.
- Participate in sprint and release-based testing, including test planning, deployment validation, smoke testing, and post-deployment verification.
- Develop and maintain training materials, user guides, quick reference guides, job aids, presentations, FAQs, and knowledge articles.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, SMEs, and business stakeholders to ensure training and readiness materials accurately reflect approved processes and system functionality.
- Prepare training scenarios, datasets, demonstrations, and user adoption materials.
- Support knowledge transfer sessions, user walkthroughs, demonstrations, and training activities.
- Support go-live, business readiness assessments, operational transition, and post-implementation stabilization.
- Identify opportunities to leverage approved AI/Generative AI tools to improve testing, documentation, training, and business readiness.
- Review and validate AI-generated content for accuracy, completeness, accessibility, and alignment with approved requirements and Government of Alberta standards.
- Follow Government of Alberta testing, quality assurance, privacy, security, accessibility, governance, and responsible AI frameworks.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Test Analyst, QA Analyst, Test Specialist, or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Strong experience in functional, regression, integration, enhancement, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience developing test cases, test scenarios, test scripts, and test execution documentation.
- Strong defect management and defect tracking experience.
- Experience supporting Agile/sprint-based testing and release cycles.
- Experience working with business stakeholders, Product Owners, SMEs, and technical teams.
- Experience with data validation and/or data migration testing.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Experience creating training materials, user guides, job aids, FAQs, or business readiness documentation.
- Ability to support go-live and post-implementation stabilization activities.
- Experience using approved AI or Generative AI tools for testing, documentation, analysis, or training is an asset.
- Government/public-sector project experience is an asset.
Location & Work Requirements
- This is a remote position; however, the resource must work from within Canada due to network and data security requirements.
- The resource may occasionally be required to attend onsite meetings or work sessions in Edmonton and/or elsewhere in Alberta with reasonable notice.
- The Government of Alberta will not cover travel, accommodation, commuting, meals, or relocation expenses associated with onsite attendance.
- Standard working hours are 8:15 AM–4:30 PM Alberta time, Monday through Friday, excluding Alberta provincial holidays.
- Government of Alberta will provide the required laptop or desktop.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on Test Analyst who combines QA/UAT expertise with business readiness, training, documentation, and stakeholder engagement. Candidates with public-sector experience and practical exposure to AI-assisted testing or documentation will be particularly well suited to this opportunity.
