Role Overview
EmergiTEL is seeking a Senior Data Architect for a 12‑month contract with a government public sector client. This is a part‑time role (16–20 hours per week) supporting the Justice Information Management System (JIMS) 3.0 project. The initiative focuses on integrating and redesigning multiple disjointed reporting data marts into a unified Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), improving governance, reporting, and efficiency of court data.
Scope of Work

Review existing data marts and perform detailed data profiling.

Analyze and create design and mapping specifications.

Identify dimensions required for facts and profile tables included in facts.

Develop and test ETL processes.
-
Build Power BI reports for testing dimensions.

Conduct QA testing of dimensions and facts.

Update JOIN data models for new fact attributes.

Stage required data and address minor fixes in delivered data marts.

Provide feedback and lessons learned at project close‑out.
Duties

Define and manage data architecture principles, strategies, and standards.

Promote data reuse and reduce redundancy in line with IMT strategy.

Identify and document enterprise data requirements.

Encourage practices that improve data quality.

Develop transition plans guiding current data to its future state.

Support communication activities related to enterprise architecture.

Contribute to enterprise architecture framework and solution design methods.

Provide consultancy to initiatives aligning with data architecture.

Participate in design and architectural reviews.

Support other enterprise architecture team members as required.
Facilities and Equipment

Resource must provide their own equipment (computer, software, printer, supplies, desk, chair).

OS must be compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (Windows preferred).

Province will provide access credentials to GoA systems.

Microsoft Teams is the primary meeting tool; Zoom may be used when needed.
Location of Work

Primarily remote, with approximately 15% onsite meetings in Edmonton.

Travel time and expenses to Edmonton are not covered.

Work must be performed within Canada.
Hours of Work

16–20 hours per week.

Flexible scheduling with preference for majority of work during Standard Operating Hours (Monday–Friday, 8:15–16:30 MST).

Occasional work outside SOH for technology releases/fixes.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a high‑impact data integration project within the government public sector, ensuring improved governance, efficiency, and reporting of justice system data.
