Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–4:30 PM Alberta Time

Job Summary
The Junior Financial Analyst will apply their accounting and financial analysis skills to support full-cycle accounting, month-end processes, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
The successful candidate will assist with financial reporting activities, account reconciliations, variance analysis, accruals, and other accounting functions while working closely with business entities and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries.
- Assist with month-end reporting and financial close activities.
- Perform account and bank reconciliations.
- Assist with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities.
- Support business partner maintenance and capital asset maintenance.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate abnormalities.
- Review and analyze accruals and other trial balance accounts.
- Support customer collections activities.
- Analyze and interpret financial information.
- Assist with financial dashboards and internal/external reporting.
- Work with business entities to gather and disseminate information for budgeting and forecasting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support their implementation.
- Perform other accounting and financial analysis duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Accounting or finance background with experience supporting financial operations.
- Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end reporting.
- Knowledge of AP, AR, accruals, trial balance accounts, and financial reporting.
- Experience with financial analysis and variance analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial information.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting activities is an asset.
- Experience with financial dashboards/reporting is an asset.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented Junior Financial Analyst/Accounting professional with hands-on experience in month-end accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, AP/AR, accruals, variance analysis, and financial reporting. Experience working with government or public-sector organizations would be an asset.
