Microwave Network Engineer
The Microwave Network Engineer plans, designs, integrates, optimizes, and troubleshoots microwave transport networks using Ericsson MINI-LINK and Ceragon solutions. The role supports wireless backhaul deployment, modernization, capacity expansion, commissioning, and operational excellence while ensuring compliance with customer standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.

Role OverviewThe Microwave Network Engineer plans, designs, integrates, optimizes, and troubleshoots microwave transport networks using Ericsson MINI-LINK and Ceragon solutions. The role supports wireless backhaul deployment, modernization, capacity expansion, commissioning, and operational excellence while ensuring compliance with customer standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.
Core Responsibilities
Microwave Planning and Engineering
- Plan end-to-end microwave networks for new sites, expansions, and modernization programs.
- Assess traffic growth, capacity use, and performance trends to recommend upgrades and network improvements.
- Complete line-of-sight (LOS) studies, path feasibility reviews, tie-in selection, and microwave qualification.
- Define transport planning requirements and recommend optimal backhaul solutions across microwave, fiber, and IP technologies.
- Plan hardware and software upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning activities.
- Produce detailed microwave designs using Pathloss and other industry-standard tools.
- Complete frequency planning and interference analysis.
- Prepare Engineering Design Documents (EDD), Bills of Materials (BoM), Transport Engineering Documents (TED) or CWO/IWO/PWO Work orders, DCN plans, scripts, and implementation packages.
- Develop connectivity plans and complete design documentation for Ericsson and Ceragon solutions.
- Review and validate construction drawings and vendor deliverables.
- Integration and Commissioning Support
- Integrate Ericsson MINI-LINK and Ceragon microwave nodes with network management systems.
- Prepare and execute configuration scripts for node deployments and upgrades.
- Support ENM integration, LLDP configuration, QoS implementation, licensing, and network onboarding.
- Provide remote deployment and commissioning support to field teams, Network Integration Centers (NIC), and operations teams.
- Resolve microwave link performance issues, alarms, connectivity failures, and capacity constraints.
- Diagnose radio, Ethernet, IP routing, synchronization, QoS, and management network issues.
- Analyze performance, conduct root cause investigations, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support customer escalations and routine maintenance.
- Validate network services after implementations and upgrades.
- Coordinate frequency assignments and regulatory licensing.
- Support ISED/FCC filings, frequency coordination submissions, and licensing records.
- Maintain compliance with customer engineering standards and industry best practices.

Education Requirement- Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, electrical, or computer engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least five years of microwave transport network engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience with Ericsson and/or Ceragon microwave products.
- Demonstrated experience planning, designing, integrating, and troubleshooting microwave transport networks.
- Experience supporting Tier-1 telecom operators and large-scale wireless transport deployments.
- Ericsson microwave certification
