Java Backend Developer

emergiTEL is hiring a Back End Developer (JAVA), for our client in the Cryptocurrency and Financial Technology (FinTech) industry. This is a Permanent role.
Compensation: $104,000 - $130,000/year

About the Role

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and maintainable integration solutions aligned with business objectives.

  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality backend systems and integrations.

  • Ensure compliance with security, data protection, and industry best practices.

  • Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Java backend applications and integrations.

  • Build and support RESTful services using modern Java and Spring technologies.

  • Work closely with UI teams to ensure seamless front-end and back-end interactions.

  • Perform peer code reviews and promote secure coding standards.

  • Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve reliability and efficiency.

  • Investigate and resolve production issues and contribute to post-incident improvements.

  • Stay current with Java development practices, security standards, and architectural trends.

  • Mentor junior developers through code reviews, technical support, and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of backend development experience using Java 8.

  • Strong experience with Maven or Gradle.

  • Extensive knowledge of Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring JPA, Spring MVC, and Spring Security.

  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and services.

  • Experience with unit testing, functional testing, code coverage, and static code analysis tools such as Sonar.

  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) methodologies and tools.

  • Strong SQL skills, including database design, DDL, DML, indexing, and optimization.

  • Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Proficiency with Git Flow, Maven, NGINX, and Docker.

  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud-based CI/CD platforms.

  • Strong Linux administration and shell scripting knowledge.

  • Experience with AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Exposure to Angular or ReactJS.

  • Experience using Swagger and Postman.

  • Knowledge of database migration tools such as Flyway.
