Overview:
- Reporting to the General Manager, the Electrical Maintenance Reliability Engineer is responsible for coordinating activities related to the safe delivery of predictive and preventive electrical maintenance routines at Deer Lake Power.
- Coordinate electrical maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of plant systems.
- Develop, improve, and optimize predictive maintenance tools and techniques.
- Analyze results from predictive and preventative maintenance programs and adjust maintenance strategies as required.
- Identify and implement design, process, and maintenance improvements to address recurring equipment issues.
- Should work with low voltage and PLC's
- Provide technical guidance and day-to-day oversight of the electrical maintenance group, supported by a Chargehand.
- Plan and organize electrical maintenance schedules in coordination with Maintenance and Operations leadership teams.
- Troubleshoot electrical and equipment issues and provide timely, practical solutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Lead preventative and predictive electrical maintenance activities designed to maximize equipment reliability and enhance overall operational performance.
- Participate in team-based problem-solving initiatives to address operational and maintenance challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a combination of engineering education and relevant electrical trade experience.
- Must be eligible to register with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT), as experience permits.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience with industrial power systems, power generation facilities, or heavy industrial environments is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to diagnose electrical and equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience working collaboratively with skilled trades and maintenance teams.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, and engineering stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Successful candidate must provide a Certificate of Conduct from a local police agency or the RCMP prior to employment.
- Quality leader in newsprint manufacturing.
