emergiTEL is hiring a Insurance ICFR / SOX Transformation Manager for our client in the Professional Services industry. This is a Contract role.
Location: Canada (Remote – EST; Montreal & Toronto alignment)
Job Description
- Lead assessments of existing ICFR and NI 52-109 control frameworks to identify opportunities for enhancement and SOX readiness
- Design and optimize key financial and operational controls across critical insurance processes
- Develop risk and control matrices (RCMs), process documentation, control narratives, and governance frameworks
- Advise stakeholders on leading practices for control design, documentation standards, accountability models, and controls governance
- Support control remediation and transformation initiatives, including control rationalization, standardization, and automation opportunities
- Partner with Finance, Actuarial, Investments, Claims, Underwriting, and Corporate Functions to embed effective controls within business processes
- Assist in establishing sustainable control ownership and monitoring programs
- Provide guidance on regulatory expectations, governance requirements, and evolving industry practices
Qualifications
- CPA, CA, CPA (Canada/US), CIA, or equivalent designation
- 5+ years (Manager) or 8+ years (Senior Manager) in insurance finance, risk, controls, audit, or ICFR/SOX advisory
- Strong knowledge of NI 52-109, SOX 404, and COSO frameworks
- Experience with financial reporting processes in insurance
- Experience designing controls across financial reporting, investments, actuarial, reinsurance, claims, treasury, and general ledger
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting SOX-aligned control transformations
- Knowledge of IFRS 17 and insurance finance transformation
- Experience with controls automation, governance modernization, or digital transformation initiatives
