About the Role

The Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting network engineering initiatives for a telecom client, including configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation of network systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching, strong knowledge of IP networks, and scripting/programming skills to support automation and network transformation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain network systems using Cisco routers and switches
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to routing protocols including RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP
• Document network environments, configurations, and processes accurately
• Support a team of network engineers and client accounts during network transformations
• Respond to technical information requests from lead engineers
• Work with Access Networks, preferably DOCSIS technology
• Manage IP-based networks, including Router, Switch, DHCP, DNS, and IP management
• Utilize programming and scripting skills (C, C++, Java, Python, Shell) for network automation
• Create visual diagrams and reports using Microsoft Visio and Excel
• Provide guidance on network hardware and configurations, including CMTS

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in network engineering
• Hands-on experience with Cisco networking, routing, and switching
• Strong understanding of IP, TCP/UDP, NAT, OSPF, and BGP
• Familiarity with Access Networks and DOCSIS technology
• Proficiency in programming and scripting (C, C++, Java, Python, Shell)
• Expert-level skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Visio
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $28–$31/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
