Senior Business Analyst- Finance Modernization - 2026-20

Remote, AB
Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our team for a critical multi-year initiative: the Core Finance Modernization (FPSL) project. This role is essential for navigating the fundamental transformation of our financial infrastructure, requiring a candidate who can act as a "Universal Translator" between Risk, Finance, Treasury, Capital Market and Technology / Data Architecture teams. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader capable of engaging at the Managing Director level and above, driving complex technical and business discussions to clear conclusions and outcomes.
Responsibilities
● Strategic Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with and lead discussions among Managing Director-level stakeholders across Finance, Risk, Treasury, and Capital Markets to drive consensus and project outcomes.
● Requirements Leadership: Lead business analysis activities by planning, gathering and documenting business requirements through interviews, workshops, and surveys.
● Universal Translation: Bridge the gap between diverse stakeholder groups by translating Risk models (e.g., Stochastics, PD/LGD) into Finance entries (Double-entry, Trial Balances) and technical IT specifications (ETL, APIs, JSON schemas).
● Discovery and Data Archeology: Lead "Data Archeology" efforts to map legacy infrastructure and define Global Blueprints for Multi-GAAP (IFRS/GAAP) accounting rules.
● Gap and Variance Analysis: Conduct gap analysis to assess differences between current and desired states.
● Technical Documentation: Develop use cases, user stories, and detailed functional specifications to capture system requirements.
● Traceability: Maintain a comprehensive requirements traceability matrix to ensure all regulatory and business needs are tracked throughout the lifecycle.
● Testing and Validation: Guide and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate that the system meets business expectations and regulatory standards.
● Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and document potential challenges such as data lineage gaps, accounting event complexities, and non-functional requirements like performance and scalability.

Required Skills and Experience
● Senior Leadership: Proven ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams, with the professional presence to influence and guide Managing Director-level leadership.
● Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of Finance, Risk, Treasury, and Capital Markets, with a preference for experience with Financial Product Sub-Ledger (FPSL) migrations and accounting logic (IFRS/GAAP).
● Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
● Analytical Rigor: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to perform deep-dive data analysis and identify potential project risks proactively.
● Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in requirements management tools such as Jira and Confluence, and experience documenting complex technical APIs and data flows.

Top Must-Have Skills
1. Strategic Influence: Ability to lead and drive decision-making at a Managing Director level.
2. Domain Specialization: Extensive experience in Finance, Risk, and Treasury, ideally within a banking or Fintech environment.
3. Core BA Principles: Strong mastery of business analysis methodologies, from requirement gathering to UAT.
4. Complex Translation: Ability to bridge the language gap between risk modeling, accounting policy, and IT implementation.
5. Adaptability: Experience managing multiple priorities in a complex, transformational project environment.
