Data Architect

Toronto, ON  |  Contract

Hourly Rate: $70.00 – $80.00 per hour

Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Data Architect with deep expertise in cloud data platforms and modern data engineering practices. The ideal candidate brings strong technical foundations across data architecture, streaming pipelines, and BI reporting, with hands-on experience delivering scalable solutions in GCP environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable data architectures across cloud and on-premise environments

  • Build and maintain CDC streaming pipelines and ELT/ETL workflows

  • Develop and manage GCP cloud data services including BigQuery, Dataflow, Datastream, and related tools

  • Collaborate with BI and analytics teams to deliver reporting solutions

  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure using Terraform and Pulumi

  • Work with cross-functional teams to align data architecture with business objectives

Must Have

  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Architect

  • 4+ years of experience with SQL, Python, and Java

  • 4+ years of experience with GCP data services (Dataflow, GCS, Datastream, BigQuery, Dataplex, PubSub, CloudSQL, BigTable)

  • 3+ years of experience with Kafka Connect, Warpstream, Debezium, and CDC streaming pipelines

  • 3+ years of experience with ELT/ETL platforms (Airflow, DBT, Apache Beam, PySpark, Airbyte)

  • 3+ years of experience with BI reporting tools (Looker, Power BI, Tableau)

  • 3+ years of experience with CI/CD and IaC using Terraform and Pulumi

  • Extensive knowledge of GCP, specifically Google Kubernetes Engine

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the health industry

 

Compensation

The hourly rate for this contract position is $70.00 to $80.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
