We are seeking an experienced Business Consultant to support enterprise network and infrastructure operations within a complex IT environment. This role partners closely with the Network Team Lead to improve service delivery, support operational planning, and guide the design, implementation, and optimization of wired, wireless, WAN, and data center network solutions.
The consultant will provide both strategic and hands-on support, acting as a technical advisor, mentor, and coordinator across network operations, infrastructure planning, and solution delivery.
Support the Network Team Lead in executing operational plans, goals, and objectives to improve overall network service delivery.
Assist with resource planning, financial planning, and budget oversight, including hardware licensing and vendor support contracts.
Coordinate and assign work activities while mentoring and supporting network team members.
Design, implement, maintain, and optimize:
Enterprise wired and wireless networks
WAN infrastructure
Network components of co-located data centers (Winnipeg, Toronto, Stettler – Alberta)
Provision, configure, install, and maintain core and distribution network systems.
Perform scheduled and emergency updates, including firmware upgrades, security patches, service packs, and hotfixes.
Provide Tier 2 technical support for core network infrastructure, retailer networks, and external stakeholder connectivity.
Act as a point of coordination during incidents, ensuring stakeholders are kept informed on investigation progress and resolutions.
Oversee patching, system updates, and ensure adequate licensing and vendor support coverage.
Review and analyze requirements, solution requests, and specifications.
Develop network architecture designs, technical proposals, cost estimates, and budgetary assessments.
Evaluate solution options, effort estimates, and financial implications, providing recommendations in collaboration with the Network Team Lead.
Coordinate solution design and implementation efforts that impact multiple infrastructure domains.
Work closely with other business units to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and system compatibility.
University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or an Information Technology diploma (or related field).
Minimum 6+ years of hands-on technical experience managing complex IT and network infrastructure environments.
Strong experience with enterprise networking technologies, including:
Cisco Nexus data center switches
Cisco ASA and Firepower firewalls
Cisco routers and Catalyst switches
Experience with co-located data center environments is highly desirable.
Experience working for a network provider or telecommunications organization is considered an asset.
Cisco CCNP certification is an asset.
