Job Title: Business Intelligence Specialist – Power BI Developer

Work Arrangement: Onsite (5 days/week)

Role Overview

The Business Intelligence Specialist (Power BI Developer) will review existing data and reporting models and redesign analytical and operational reporting solutions to ensure they are scalable, flexible, and aligned with future business needs.

The role will initially support a core program area and later extend across multiple programs and applications, including the development of new data and reporting products to address evolving priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models

• Redesign existing reporting solutions to improve performance, scalability, and usability

• Translate business requirements, wireframes, and prototypes into functional BI solutions

• Develop optimized data models, measures, and calculations using DAX

• Work with relational databases in SQL Server (on-prem and Azure) and Oracle

• Support ETL/ELT processes and data preparation activities (SSIS / Azure-based tools)

• Perform data validation, unit testing, and support testing activities to ensure data integrity

• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, UX/UI Designers, QA Analysts, and other Developers

• Support requirements gathering, analysis, and prototyping with business stakeholders

• Ensure reports and dashboards comply with accessibility standards (AODA / WCAG 2.0)

• Prepare and maintain design documentation (FDDs, DDDs) and technical specifications

• Participate in Agile delivery practices (Scrum / Kanban)

• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and create supporting documentation for ongoing support

Required Skills & Experience

Power BI & Analytics

• 3+ years of hands-on experience developing solutions using Power BI

• Strong experience with DAX, data modeling, and performance optimization

• Experience building complex reports, dashboards, and data marts

• Ability to present technical solutions and insights clearly to business users

Data & Integration

• Strong SQL skills with experience in SQL Server and Oracle

• Experience with Microsoft BI stack components such as SSAS, SSRS, SSIS

• Experience working with ETL / ELT pipelines and data injection processes

• Experience designing multi-dimensional data models and translating them into business insights

Cloud & Microsoft Stack

• Experience working with Microsoft Azure services, including:

  • Azure SQL / Azure Database

  • Azure Analysis Services

  • Azure Synapse

  • Power Apps & Power Automate

• Experience working in hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)

Collaboration & Delivery

• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum / Kanban)

• Ability to support requirements gathering, analysis, and prototyping

• Strong documentation and analysis skills (FDD, DDD, Fit-Gap, use cases)

• Experience conducting knowledge transfer and training sessions

• Familiarity with accessibility and usability standards (AODA / WCAG 2.0)
