Job Title: Systems Testing / QA Specialist – Senior

Role Summary

The Senior Systems Testing / QA Specialist leads and executes quality assurance activities for large, complex systems across GUI and non-GUI environments. The role focuses on test strategy, functional and non-functional testing, automation, data/ETL validation, and BI testing, while supporting releases, sustainment activities, and production issue resolution in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on testing strategy, test plans, tool selection, and resource planning

• Plan and organize testing efforts for large-scale systems, including integration, stress, and UAT testing

• Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, test cases, and test data

• Perform functional, non-functional, system integration, performance, and regression testing

• Support release and sustainment activities, including urgent fixes and infrastructure upgrades

• Collaborate with testing leads, IT leads, developers, and business teams throughout the SDLC

• Support production defect investigation, hotfix validation, and release cycles

• Participate in knowledge transfer activities and documentation walkthroughs

Required Skills & Experience

Testing & Methodology Experience (45%)

• Strong experience in manual and automated testing

• Proven experience creating test strategies, test plans, test cases, and defect reports

• Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g., QTP/Quick Test Pro, HPQC)

• Experience with Azure DevOps for test planning, execution, and defect tracking

• In-depth understanding of software testing processes and methodologies

• Experience testing ETL processes and applications, ensuring data integrity and performance

Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse Testing (20%)

• Experience testing data warehouses, data marts, ETL processes, and BI reports

• Hands-on testing experience with Cognos and Power BI

• Experience validating ETL solutions using Informatica and SSIS

• Familiarity with source systems such as Cognos, SSRS, and Qlik for data mapping and validation

Technical Skills (25%)

• Strong SQL skills used actively for data validation and reconciliation

  • SQL Server required

  • Oracle SQL / PL-SQL preferred

• Experience testing XML and database-driven applications

• Experience supporting production defect analysis and hotfix testing

• Experience testing for Accessibility compliance (AODA / WCAG AA), including use of tools such as screen readers

• Proficiency with desktop tools (MS Office, Excel, Outlook)

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams

• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

Enterprise / Public Sector Experience (5%)

• Prior experience working in large enterprise or public-sector environments
