Job Title: Senior Mainframe Application Developer

Work Arrangement

  • Onsite, 5 days/week

  • Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM


Role Summary

The Senior Mainframe Application Developer will be responsible for end-to-end design, development, maintenance, and support of large-scale mainframe applications. The role involves working with hierarchical databases, legacy systems, and enterprise-grade tools while collaborating with cross-functional IT teams throughout the SDLC.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain mainframe applications

  • Translate system and business specifications into working, tested solutions

  • Perform IMS database reorganization, unload/reload, and recovery activities

  • Manage server-side logic and ensure performance, reliability, and responsiveness

  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide post-implementation support

  • Maintain technical and user documentation

  • Participate in design walkthroughs and structured development methodologies

  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to meet delivery timelines


Required Skills & Experience

Core Experience (Mandatory)

  • 10+ years of experience in programming and systems analysis

  • 10+ years working with structured development methodologies

  • 10+ years in full lifecycle application development (design, code, test, debug, document)

  • 10+ years experience with hierarchical databases:

    • IMS DB

    • VSAM

    • IMS DB Reorganization, Unload/Reload, Recovery Control

  • 10+ years hands-on experience with:

    • Enterprise COBOL

    • Assembler

    • JCL

    • TSO/ISPF

    • REXX

    • CLIST

    • BTS

Mainframe & Tools

  • IMS DB/DC (Full Function & FASTPATH)

  • CA Telon (3GL development)

  • IBM ACB, BDB, PSB generation

  • CA Easytrieve, CA SAR

  • CA Scheduler, File-Aid, Abend-Aid

  • IBM 3270 SNA, NDM and related communication protocols

Domain Experience

  • Experience with property registration systems (PPSR or similar) preferred

  • Experience working in large enterprise environments with defined policies and procedures


Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Clear verbal and written communication

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines in high-dependency environments


Nice to Have

  • Experience with internet-ready applications and middleware

  • Knowledge of rapid application development (RAD) methodologies

  • Experience reviewing and modifying installation scripts

  • Understanding of information management principles and accessibility standards
