DESCRIPTION:
Civil & Network Engineering
- Contribute to civil engineering standards, construction practices, and build methods in alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
- Manage civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering activities for expansion or modification of existing network facilities.
- Review and approve consultant/contractor design submissions for compliance with Rogers standards, codes, project specifications, and scope requirements.
- Action network civil deficiencies at a provincial level, including security augmentations, emergency restoration, site access, and urgent repairs.
- Enforce engineering guidelines and network standards for enclosures, power systems, environmental systems, antenna supporting structures, and towers.
Project & Construction Management
- Participate in tendering, documentation, and award of construction work for network build projects, including contractor/vendor selection and management, in line with Rogers procurement policies.
- Provide technical support during construction or operational activities at network locations.
- Support Field Operations, Network Implementation, Radio Engineering, Real Estate, Transport Planning, and Equipment Engineering in acquiring new network facilities, modifying existing sites, or resolving civil infrastructure issues.
- Manage and implement landlord-initiated projects such as equipment relocation for roofing/renovation, vegetation clearing, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Provide guidance and direction to staff engineers, contractors, and consultants working on civil projects.
Maintenance & Operational Programs
- Plan, manage, and implement regional infrastructure maintenance programs, including towers, HVAC, wildfire mitigation, generators, fire systems, batteries, and powerline initiatives.
- Provide engineering and operational support for third-party co-locations on Rogers-owned sites.
- Ensure infrastructure safety and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and Rogers’ health and safety policies.
- Review and approve site audits, structural analyses, and engineering drawings based on Planning, Radio Engineering, Microwave, and Equipment Engineering requirements.
Budget & Inventory Management
- Manage district and regional capital and operational budgets, including fiscal forecasting and tracking.
- Oversee the Manitoba Wireless Spares Depot, including spares organization, inventory management, and shipping/receiving of wireless spares.
Procurement & Product Evaluation
- Source and perform acceptance evaluations of products or systems for use in the Rogers Wireless network.
MUST HAVES:
• Civil Engineering Degree or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma.
• Wireless telecom education and experience will be considered an asset.
• Project management experience.
• Experience in vendor/contractor selection and procurement processes.
• Working knowledge of telecom and construction industry codes and standards including relevant CSA standards and building codes.
• Working knowledge of wireless telecommunication infrastructure.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CAD software.
• Ability to work both autonomously and in a team-based situation.
• Comfortable accessing and working at remote worksites.
• Logistics / Materials Coordination
• Valid drivers license required.
