Role Summary: As we re-platform to a new, innovative AWS ecosystem, the QuickSight System Analyst (6-month contract) is critical for ensuring our business has reliable, actionable reporting at every step. Reporting to the Director of Technology on the Technology Team, you’ll develop and deploy robust data reports in Amazon QuickSight, enabling teams to access vital information and make smarter decisions as we migrate to the new platform. Key Accountabilities: Building and maintaining data reports by:
● Designing and building reports in Amazon QuickSight that present complex data in a clear, accurate, and usable format
● Configuring datasets, calculated fields, filters, and parameters to ensure the data is relevant and accessible
● Using SQL to connect to and extract from data sources like DB2, PostgreSQL, and Amazon Aurora
● Managing report publishing and user access permissions via AWS IAM
● Troubleshooting and optimizing report performance, especially with large or complex datasets Collaborating with business and tech teams by:\
● Gathering reporting requirements from stakeholders and translating business questions into effective technical solutions Documenting report logic and processes to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability
● Supporting teams in accessing, understanding, and using reports during and after the platform migration Supporting platform transition and data integrity by:
● Providing expertise in ETL concepts and basic data modeling as needed for report accuracy
● (Optional/Preferred) Assisting with aspects of AWS data pipelines (Glue, Lambda, S3) to ensure smooth integration with QuickSight
● Ensuring all reports are up-to-date and in sync with business needs throughout the migration
Required Skills & Expertise:
● 2+ years experience building and deploying data reports in Amazon QuickSight
● Proficient in SQL, with experience accessing sources like DB2, PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, or similar
● Solid skills in configuring QuickSight datasets, calculated fields, filters, and parameters
● Able to publish reports and manage access using AWS IAM
● Comfortable handling and optimizing large datasets for report speed and reliability
● Requirement gathering and translation skills for business questions
● Familiarity with ETL concepts and basic data modeling Preferred:
● Logistics or transportation reporting background (TMS, EDI, shipment/tracking data)
● Exposure to AWS Glue, Lambda, S3 Key Behavioral Components:
● Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
● Proactive and self-motivated, comfortable working independently
● Strong communicator who can explain technical info in everyday language
