Description: Security Consultant - Managed Services
As a Security Consultant within the Managed Services team at TELUS, you will play a vital role in managing a diverse range of network security solutions including Firewalls, VPNs, IPS, Content Filtering, and NAC for TELUS Security’s external clients across all markets. In this customer-facing role, you’ll help ensure the safety and reliability of evolving network infrastructures.
You’ll work in close collaboration with internal teams across security delivery, operations, and customer success, gaining valuable hands-on experience in managing complex, enterprise-grade security environments. This role offers the opportunity to broaden your expertise in the cybersecurity domain and make a tangible impact on customer network resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate as an extension of the customer's internal networking team, managing Fortinet and other security solutions for organizations of varying sizes.
Provide technical leadership, developing repeatable work methods and establishing standard practices for secure firewall deployments.
Participate in security incident response including triage, investigation, and analysis; assist analysts in reviewing network logs to identify anomalies or suspicious behavior.
Collaborate closely with Managed Services teams and Security Operations Center (SOC) analysts to deliver a seamless and secure customer experience.
Offer guidance and mentorship to junior security consultants, particularly in troubleshooting complex firewall and network issues.
Analyze diverse data streams to make logical and timely decisions, delivering effective network security recommendations.
Must-Have Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in security solutions, including technical knowledge of engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
Proven hands-on experience with Fortinet, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, or other Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs), including administration and reporting.
Strong troubleshooting abilities across complex network and security configurations.
Solid understanding of networking architecture and OSI Layer 1–7 protocols.
Expertise in TCP/UDP/IP protocols, their structure, function, and implementation.
Ability to obtain (or current possession of) Canadian Government Secret Security Clearance.
Flexibility to work evenings, overnight, and weekends as required by client needs.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
Relevant certifications such as:
Fortinet NSE6, NSE7, NSE8
CISSP, SANS/GIAC, SABSA
Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, GCP)
Vendor certifications (Cisco, Palo Alto Networks)
Experience with network and application-level security testing/reviews.
