Business Systems Analyst - FB3110

Ottawa(Hybrid), ON

Role:  Business Systems Analyst working in our Data as a Product scrum team, extracting data and moving it to a data warehouse, the data is then used to build dashboards and reports in Qlik (but soon moving to Power BI).
 
What you will do 
As a Business System Analyst in the Banking and Payments (BAP) Department, you are primarily responsible for providing expertise in business analysis for clarifying and documenting user needs so that the Kanban team understands and implements the data related requirements needed by Banking Operations.
 

You will; 
·Perform technical and functional requirements analysis, develop requirements and design documentation, supporting workflows and fully qualified Jira Epics and Stories to facilitate Product Development 
·Work with the kanban team to analyze, find and validate solutions to complex business problems
·Identify opportunities to improve Banking and Payment business processes and capabilities
·Develop and maintain documentation, including business/systems processes, data requirements, as well as functional and technical specifications related to the system
·Write, plan and execute test scenarios and coordinate user acceptance testing 
 
 We are looking for relevant experience in the following areas (in addition to the above):
·Business intelligence (business performance measurement, balanced scorecard)
·Implementation of data related solutions (data warehouse, business intelligence solutions, master data management solutions)
·Writing SQL queries for data extraction
 
You will be expected to work with data modellers to understand data requirements and current state within the source business systems.  You’ll also work with ETL developers to understand data issues encountered during data processing.  You are familiar with MicroSoft Azure Databricks and have knowledge of R and Python programming languages

 
What you need to succeed
As a seasoned business analyst, you are experienced in eliciting, documenting, and managing requirements. Your effective verbal and written communication skills enable you to conduct needs assessments with the end users, provide context to the development teams, and build business analysis artifacts that are easily consumed by business and technical users.  You can easily adapt to change, working with a diverse group of partners and scrum team members while using your analytical skills to work with the team to find and validate solutions.   
 

Nice to have
·Knowledge of high-available banking and payments systems and/or the Canadian Payments landscape
 
 
 

Required Qualifications & Skills
The Consultant should have the following qualifications and skills:
 
•              • University degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce, computer science or a related field
•              • A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience providing consultation in the development of business requirements, as well as the delivery of business systems analysis, ensuring accurate consideration of people, processes, systems design, and technology
•              • A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience with the agile software development methodology in the capacity of a business analyst, exemplifying the Agile mindset, valuing psychological safety, equal voice, visibility, transparency, purpose and belonging
•              • Demonstrated experience with business intelligence (business performance measurement, balanced scorecard)
•              • Demonstrated experience with data management tasks (such as data governance, data stewardship, data quality management)
•              • Demonstrated experience with the implementation of data related solutions (data warehouse, business intelligence solutions, master data management solutions)
•              • Demonstrated experience in the facilitation of meetings and workshops
•              • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change, working with a diverse group of partners and scrum team members while managing multiple tasks of varying complexities
 
           
 
Additional Qualifications
The following will also be considered:
 
•              • Demonstrated knowledge of high-availability banking and payments systems
•              • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Certification in Business Analysis (CCBA) or other relevant professional designations
