Design and Planning Engineer - TI2504-1

Responsibilities:
  • An Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer responsible for detailed planning and design of OSP elements (aerial and/or underground) and fibre design of  GPON fibre networks. Provide support to construction partners using a variety of tools, ensuring constructability issues are incorporated into the network designs. In addition, oversee post-construction activities to ensure networks are recorded, inventoried, and built according to company’s best practices and standards.
  • Create high-level (redline) layout and design drawings for outside plant fibre broadband,construction plan, specifically focusing on delivering GPON service to brownfield Premises
  • Develop and refine planning methodologies.
  • Offer comprehensive technical support to build partners throughout the entire outside plant construction process, starting from the planning,pre-field stage, through design, and all the way to actual construction.
  • Assists/leads in the development and refinement of processes and procedures as required.
  • Serve as a technical expert and provide support for GPON FTTH projects, in addition to the typical brownfield  FTTH deployments.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in support of planning activities.
  • Foster effective coordination and communication with both internal stakeholders (PMs,Planners, Access Design Designers) and external parties (Build Partners) to obtain crucial OSP information and to discuss and resolve specific design-related challenges
  • Ensure proposed construction plans adhere to company and municipality standards,maintaining a focus on accuracy and delivering high-quality results.
  •  Read and interpret outside plant records.
  •  Maintain knowledge of current OSP design principles and industry standards.
  • Consistently operate in compliance with updated Safety Codes,Electric Codes,internal best practices and procedures.
  • Provide necessary training to offshore teams to build the skillet in Planning and design.

Skills:
  • Advance knowledge of multiple technologies within the Planning and design .
  • Ability to work independently and produce quality results with limited guidance.
  • Ability to construct planning and design approaches and methodologies when faced with ambiguous or unprecedented challenges.
  • Ability to develop well thought out recommendations for complex planning challenges, including supporting cost benefit analysis of various options.

     Education:
  • Recommended University Graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
Recommended minimum 8 years of progressive knowledge in Planning and design.
