ROLE OVERVIEW:

BAM is seeking an experienced Engineer to join the Commodities Risk Technology team. The Engineer will build the next generation risk system utilized by Risk Management, Portfolio Management, and C-level Business Management teams. The Engineer will use the latest cloud native technologies to build a highly scalable, robust, and performant system. The role’s focus will be on quantitative modeling, platform capacity optimization, and integration with BAM enterprise systems. Success in this role will significantly contribute to the expansion of BAM’s investment capacity and the growth the commodities business. The Engineer will work directly with Risk Managers and Portfolio Managers and will need have the ability to excel in a fast paced environment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• 7+ years software development experience in financial services industry
• Experience developing in Python, R, C#, C++, Java or similar language with an interest in developing in Python
• Experience implementing risk systems and familiarity with risk concepts such as market risk, value at risk (VaR), greeks, stress testing, scenario analysis, and model validation
• Commodities asset class experience
• Degree in computer science, engineering, math, or related field

NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience with Power and Gas commodities markets
• Basic knowledge of statistics
• Experience with financial modeling and valuation
• Experience acquiring, analyzing, and organizing time-series financial data
• Expertise in database technologies and relational and document database design using SQL
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud computing systems
• Experience with Beacon Platform
• FRM, CFA, or similar certification
