This position will be responsible for long and short term Small cell planning in the west, including AB, BC and SK.
Responsibilities Include:
• Create short- and long-term small cell plans in the west.
• Work closely with Macro, IB, and capacity planners within the regional team to create small cell plans in the region.
• Work closely with National Planning teams and create Rogers specific Small Cell wireless road maps. Create studies to determine the best way forward for the wireless network.
• Act as a lead and develop and analyze alternatives to recommend the most economical solution to meet departmental and organizational objectives regarding future network expansion, subscriber growth and usage patterns.
• Identify areas of improvement for the wireless network to keep Rogers ahead of competition
• Technical review of existing and forecasted network performance which includes gathering input from network statistics, RF Engineering, Worst Offenders, Network Operations as well as Marketing. Work with RF Engineering and the optimization team to apply the appropriate actions to address any network capacity requirement and quality issues in a timely manner.
• Recommend course of action to management to resolve capacity and technical issues within the access network. Provide comparison of costs and/or impact of these recommendations versus other options.
• Collaborate with Regional Network Implementation and RF team to communicate priorities, support and guidance for site acquisition, lease, and design issues and to ensure timely delivery of planned programs.
Qualifications
Experience and Education
• Undergraduate degree with 7 years of work experience in a wireless environment with specific experience in Small Cell planning
Professional designation/ Technical skills
• Highly effective leader & strong communicator with expert understanding of the LTE and 5G RAN (Radio Access Network) capacity and optimization process, with significant experience in planning small cell coverage
• Highly adaptive and flexible to changing environments and priorities. Ability to see the full picture in order to deliver on objectives. Out of box thinker.
• Strong understanding of designing & building, Capacity dimension and monitoring of Wireless Access Networks and systems including experience with roles and functions of all access network elements. Expert on industry standards and vendor road maps.
• Strong financial acumen, understanding of project budgets and cost analysis
• Education experience should include a post-secondary education, Bachelor of Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering preferably.
• Strong aptitude for research, data analysis and trend development
• Expert knowledge of MapInfo, Power BI and other mapping and analytics tools
• Professional designation with 7 years of work experience in a wireless environment, with focus on small cells planning or design.
• Ability to operate autonomously, within general direction guidelines.
