This role also retains a significant emphasis on CAD development. The PCB CAD designer is responsible for the complete PCB design, from schematic capture, PCB layout, and transfer of design to manufacturing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the schematic input and output, ensuring standards are met and consistency is maintained in schematics.
Design and modification of RF and high density, multi-layer digital and analogue PCBs to current IPC standards. This will include DDR3/4, SERDES and RGMII routing techniques.
Implementing the latest DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DFT (Design for Test) techniques to produce designs that are not vendor dependant, are of a high quality standard, have high yield and low cost.
FPGA re-pinning for minimal cross over and layer count.
Library symbol and cell creation, including managing the library database of parts.
Liaise with document control on the implementation of ECO’s (Engineering Change Orders) to schematics and PCB’s.
Liaise with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors on technical issues and obtaining prototype PCB fabrication quotations & ordering of PCB fabrication when required.
Liaise with Mechanical design team on the creation of PCB’s, working to ensure correct board sizing/shape, and positioning of critical components.
Evaluating new tools and software that can assist in the rapid design of high quality PCB layouts
Assist in maintaining standard working practices through the regular review and updating of the PCB Design Team policy and procedures documentation.
Maintain regular communication with other PCB designers in the organization
Managing of local PCB CAD tools and licenses.
